The game time question should have also been rephrased to include days of the week. There are two problems; one is mid week games and the second is not playing night games early in the season when its 90 degrees out. The average person is going to fill out the survey and say I want 3:30 Saturday start times instead of asking for later start times earlier in the season.
When was the last time we had an early season night game
I took his point to be that he felt differently about early season night games on a hot summer Saturday than he did about a late season night game on a cold weeknight.
I didn’t take his point any “way” other than I do not remember the last time we’ve had an early season night game. I knew it had to be over 2 years.
Pure speculation but perhaps the continued decline in attendance has some relationship to the lack of an opening weekend or or early weekend night game. I was never a fan of those games because of the extra work it put on us to host a Green and White tailgate for 750 or more people but that's not the point. People are creatures of habit and students are no different. Home game first weekend back - you go and if you have a good time, you come back. 7:00 start time and you "tailgate" somewhere, catch the band, head to a house party or uptown or maybe watch the whole game and then do those things, and you've had a good night. When it comes to scheduling the start time for our first home game of 2020, I'd certainly take a long hard look at a night game.
And speaking of the first game, who do we play before Boston College?
