Bobcat Season Ticket Holder,

We wanted to let you know that we will be switching sidelines beginning this coming season and moving back to the west side of the field.  Please note, sections 12, 13 and 14 behind the visitors bench will now be reserved seating.

Since I don't get it, someone help me understand why they'd make those seats reserved seating?

My guess is they are trying to keep students away from the seats with immediate/adjacent contact with the opponent. I believe the entire reason they switched sidelines in the first place was due to drama between opponents and students.

This is a great move. Every 2:00 or 3:30 game, I sit in my shady seats looking out at the opponent who is enjoying nice cool shade while the Bobcats are baking in the sun and awkwardly shielding their eyes trying to look directly into the sun.

OK, but who, older than about 25 years old, is going to want to sit there?

It's possible they intend to put the visiting team's ticket allotment there? If it were me, I would put the 110 there...That would be awesome.

I would think they would put the visiting team's fans there. I think that was the setup before they moved sidelines last time.

Maybe it's just me, but doesn't it seem to make more sense to put the visiting team's fan section in the corner section where they were last year?

Which is EXACTLY why the MAC made the rule in the first place! And for the record, around the MAC that was known as the Boeh rule, even though our band was notoriously rough on the opponents, it was Boeh who complained about every visiting student section and band that sat behind the OHIO bench at away games. Once, he even brought GA's to film the fans behind the team as evidence of the abuse we took.

Specifically what rule? I'm just not aware of the rule you're referring to.

Who could sit behind the visiting team. The entire reason OHIO switched sidelines 14 years ago.

It is an improvement for getting signals in from the sidelines on sunny days. I am told that was one reason coaches were in favor.
I wonder if the coaching staff in the booth will change sides too?

Yeah, construction will probably start in the Spring on the coaches box across from Peden Tower

Screwing the students out of the prime seats at THEIR university where they pay through the nose with their activity fee, wonderful.

So now I know why the Bobcats have NEVER won the MAC--the sun!

(Anything since my OU life began is NEVER)

Should we consider covering sections 12, 13, and 14 with an advertisement?

I think putting visiting fans in front of the students would be a mistake.

And, trying to sell those would likely mean empty seats.

Why not sell ad space that will be seen on TV?

Or alternate Ohio.edu and athensohio.com banners across there?

Or highest bidder. OhioHealth maybe....?

Bad idea?

Alan Swank must have hacked into MonroeClassmate's computer. Or was it Ukraine?

I like that idea. That may also help us in our quest to sell the naming rights to Peden. We gotta think outside the box!

They had a newly graduated alumni season ticket section before, wonder if that will be it.

If they do it again, it would be a great idea.

Phillips Club seats are about full, so it would make sense to make the east reserved a premium opportunity.

There's no 110 box in the east grandstand. I wonder if they are moving back to the north end zone.

Back when the visitors were on the east sideline, the visiting fans section was in the southeast corner of the stands in sections 123 and 124, where the visiting team enters the field.

Flipping the sidelines makes a lot of sense. Players won't enter the field from the side opposite their bench, so the teams won't be crossing paths when coming on and off the field.
