Maybe I can finally see my dream conference - The FOSU Conference - Ohio, Miami, Kent, Akron, Toledo, BG, Wright State, Dayton, Xavier, Cincy, Cleveland St, Youngstown St

I have never understood why the non-revenue sports got caught up in the conference realignment revolution. I think Missouri wrestles in the MAC for example. I just didn't know if there was a Title IX component to this.

I can say why this was done for D-1 wrestling.

Absent some type of conference affiliation,it is virtually impossible
for a wrestler to get a "bid" to the NCAA tournament.

As far as I know,Missouri is the only SEC school that still has D-1 wrestling.
That's why they wrestle in the MAC.

Same thing,a number of schools from different conferences for most sports,
wrestle in the EIWA.

The expanded MAC, has several schools in different conferences for other sports.

I'd imagine their program was a leftover from their Big 8/12 days, where more teams had/still have wrestling.

Only Iowa State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and newer-comer West Virginia are the base Big 12 wrestling schools currently. Teams from the Mountain West, Summit League and others round out the conference in its current form.

The Big 10 is the only conference I know of that all member schools have programs and no additional affiliate members.
