Just kidding.

Did anyone realize that Rourke's stock may be dropping a bit in the CFL draft? The ranking in December had him just behind the two NFL picks and line to be #1 overall with them going NFL. Now he may not be the first MAC player chosen. I'm fascinated that the top kicker ranked is named J.J. Molson. I think someone is in line for a nice endorsement deal.

This guy predicts Nathan will go in the 3rd round: https://www.cfl.ca/2020/04/29/mock-2-0-new-name-no-1 /

It might be on NFL Network tomorrow night -- the DirecTV schedule shows "to be announced" on NFL Net for tomorrow night. If not, coverage will be on CFL.ca at least by 11 pm.

Interesting that Maleek Irons who is from BC plays for Hamilton in Ontario.
Nathan who is from Ontario will be playing in BC.

good for nathan to be drafted by BC.

a very long story and it may not make sense on the surface........ canadians must be 7 of your 24 starters. usually, it's 3 interior oline and 2 wide receivers. and then try to squeeze 2 more canadians elsewhere. deep safety and 3rd wide receiver are popular choices. defensive tackle has grown as a canadian spot recently............. EDIT: actually deep safety is almost a given for being canadian. so that leaves one last canadian starter you need to find.

BUT, the weird thing has been that canadian Qb's never counted as canadian....... to me, they should count as double canadian spot i.e. you could have 2 less canadians elsewhere

anyway, they've made some changes such that a 3rd string canadian QB can play another position.... not sure what is the important as presumably they could have done this anyway, but apparently this is an important change.

so, don't be surprised if nathan plays some WR.

JJ Molson is of the Molson family of Montreal.......... he got NFL combine invite. surprised he didn't get nfl contract and/or got draft so late in canadian draft. seemed like he was at UCLA forever.

if the CFL doesn't get federal govt money, i think there are many people who think it might cease to exist.

not sure why they need so much........ i presume they don't need to pay the players. so expenses should be pretty low.

I don't presume to know all the details. However, the league doesn't have much interest in the bigger markets (ie, Ontario) and gets much of its fan base from the smaller markets in the west. Ontario prefers the NFL.

Earlier this week, there were a couple of stories about this in the local papers out here.

They didn't go into much detail.

But they made it sound like the CFL is teetering on the brink of financial collapse.

While I'm sure there are fans of many, if not all, teams in Ontario, I've think that the Bills have a pretty strong following given their proximity and even went as far to holding their "Toronto Series" games that didn't go as planned.

Makes sense to me that the league is more popular in the Canadian prairie provinces.

Time to get some B.C. gear for our dude! I watched online until Nathan was selected. Reminded me of the early 80's ESPN shows for some reason. 3 of the 4 guys used the "University of Ohio" line.

Dan Patrick spent a minute or two on Nathan, Solich and the win over Nevada in the bowl game. He really likes Solich.

I've always appreciated it when I was in a bookstore/gear shop for a university and they were selling NFL, NBA etc. jerseys for past players. I unfortunately don't think there is much of a market for BC Lion's gear in Athens outside of a few of us.

On a side note, I think a lot of tv shows and movies have been filmed inside of the Lions' dome. I know it was the home of Metropolis U on Smallville.

you guys are correct......... the CFL's core is basically the prairie provinces, including alberta. winnipeg, saskatchewan, edmonton, regina. only 3 nhl teams between them. toronto has all major leagues but NFL

the saskatchewan roughriders have an SEC type fan base. very rabid. no other city has that. and there is great apathy in vancouver and toronto. montreal has keen interest that ebbs and flows.

not sure why toronto is such a poor CFL market.... i think "the fans prefer the NFL" is just one of many factors.... the CFL used to be immensely popular in toronto and vancouver (vancouver in the 1990's....... not sure of toronto's end date for zealous fans)

BTW, the CFL scouting combine simply ranks the players.

i don't think there was any chance nathan would have been taken in the top 5 picks to play QB.......

i would love to be corrected, but i think there's only been one good canadian QB in the CFL. at least only one good one in last 60 years. russ jackson........ there's been more canadian QB's in the NFL in that time period.

what parallel would be for BC fans who Nathan will play in front of? Last year you or someone else gave a great analogy of Irons playing for Steeler type city and fans.
