Topic: Why do 4 MAC QB's have more rushing attempts than Navarro?

A fantastic runner especially in the open field averages only 10.83 rushes a game. Heck even the Buffalo Bills Josh Allen, super star and one they cannot afford to get hurt runs on average 8 times per game.

Last year Navarro ran a few more times a game at 12.31 per game and I would have thought this season he would have increased the number of attempts considerably especially considering no Tyus level production from the RB position. (Bangura having a nice season but not Tyus level)

IMO, Parker Navarro should be taking off 16-18 times per game.

I'll be the devil's advocate for this one. I always felt that our offense took a toll on our QBs over the course of the year. I never felt that Nathan Rourke was the same in the last few MAC games, but would recover in time for the bowl game. I think one of the keys to winning the MAC last year was sitting Navarro for the Kentucky game. I think that his running is a big strength. However, we have other ways to win games, and I 'm not convinced one of those ways is with a backup QB. I could be wrong with this one, but I've felt this way since Nathan Rourke's first year here.

It could be that there's more of a focus for Navarro as a passer this year.

It could also be that he's banged up a little and the staff is protecting him.

I'm curious to see how aggressive the staff will let Navarro be as a runner for these remaining 6 games. In some spots we could sure use those QB scrambles for 10+ yards.

If you compare the first 6 games last season to the first 6 games this season, it looks a little different.

2024: 986 yards passing, 5 TD / 6 INT, 426 yards rushing, 4 TD
2025: 1266 yards passing, 9 TD / 4 INT, 398 yards rushing, 3 TD


I agree we need to start finding ways to get him into open space, but his total yards and TD per game is up from the same time last season.

His total yards per game has actually increased from 266 to 277 total yards and his passing TD per game is up to 1.5. He has 9 pass TD vs 13 all of last season.

So he's just throwing for TD a little more than he was running it in.

I would say that his slight decrease in runs and open lanes is due to a new offensive line that aren't getting the space they did last season.

We also played the #1 defense in the country, and 3/6 were P5 opponents which is suffocating some of the numbers.
