1. Why would a TV broadcast put the green line to gain for a team to be in FG range when that team is driving on its last possession and needs a TD, down 4 or more points?

2. Why do TV networks automatically (and quickly) go to commercial when a player is on the ground hurt? There are times they do this when the player is up and heading off the field before they cut to commercials.

3. WVU running back Tye Edwards, with 0 carries in the team's first 2 games, was a factor in the Mountaineers win yesterday v. Pitt, carrying the ball 25 times for 143 yards and 3 TDs. Edwards started his college career in 2019, playing 10 games. Since then, 2020 (8 games), '21 (8), '22 (3), '23 (9), '24 (12). So this begs the question, is it possible Ohio can get another year from Parker Navarro in 2026?

4. I've heard/read where some have said that o$u had to score on a late drive v. Grambling last week to impress people. So, winning 63-0 doesn't impress people but winning 70-0 does?

5. Doesn't Ohio going 2-2 before conference play look much better than 1-3, more than the actual 1-game difference? Go 8-0, win the MACC and a bowl game, and the Bobcats have put together a 12-2 season.

6. When a tackler lowers his head and leads with the crown it's targeting. So why isn't the ball carrier held to the same level of scrutiny?

7. Is it o$u's regular practice to sit the visiting team's marching band in C deck? This one I really want to know the answer from someone with knowledge on the matter.

The 1-2 start is not bad considering the competition and Ohio didn't bring more than its C or B game to anything so far. Had Ohio won against Rutgers and pushed Ohio State more it was possible. I believe this team will improve, put it all together and be able to rout some MAC teams in conference play hitting stride down the stretch.

Most of those esoteric musings will have to go unanswered, I’m afraid.

As for the band, I heard someone in Ohio section at field level say that we took the bands seats. Perhaps this decision comes back to our AD? I was puzzled Saturday because I thought I remembered sitting across the aisle from the 110 in 2010.Too bad. I only heard OUr band clearly once all evening.

I may be wrong here and Ive not had time to go search this. But I believe a well informed poster here stated the band requested C deck?

1. Producer not understanding the game

2. Depending on the time slot and network you will have 3-4 media timeouts per quarter with a floater. So that 7-8 Media breaks a half at 2-3 minutes, again depends on the broadcast. They can only take them u def. Retain circumstances, never during a drive without a team timeout or injury. Change of possession, after a score are givens. So producers have to take opportunities when they have them and depending on the flow of the game, you better get them in when you can.

3. Potentially, but medicat red shirts are an appeal after initial eligibility is expired. NCAA is wanting to do away with this and go a 5 to play 5 straight model.

4. No coach is going to tell their back ups to not play. Play calling may be a different story but players wa t to play and need to make statements to earn more playing time.

5. I like how you think.

6. Technically it is a foul. But that is where officiating philosophy comes into play.

7. I believe somewhere someone said it was our choice? Not looked back yet to find what I may be imagining. But often our sales are our revenue, so maybe it was to maximize profit?

Nope. 1996's "female AD" made that decision.

I'm guessing the order came down from the president and/or development staff. And I have no problem with it at all

The Band. I sat in the row right behind the tubas in "C".

OSU provided tickets in their agreement with playing OHIO and paying for that privilege. The tickets were in Section AA and C.

The tickets were sold for $110 in Section AA while the Section C sold for only $80. The athletic department made money by selling the AA seats and putting the band in the upper.

Sorry people didn't hear the band in the "good" seats. The Bobcat faithful in cheaper C deck heard the 110 loud and clear. Another benefit was that at least a couple of times the band played the same time an advertisement or the OSU band played.

Lori Gonzalez personally paid for the band's upper deck seats. Let's face it, funding a winning FBS program depends on donors. The fact that we now have "monied" alumni/friends with a vested interest in the program is a significant improvement over the past. They need to be taken care of. I'm guessing many of those who are outraged about it are the same people who won't pony up $100 or $200 to the OBC.

That’s what I thought, but wasn’t totally sure. So it was maximizing our dollars move.

You went from guessing to knowing. And 190 members at $80 bucks a pop. So you are saying she dropped a couple years salary on the band. Good for her and way to be supportive.

They have to create some excitement somehow...

Huh? It'd be less than 16k for those seats.

More to the point, if the decision was money driven, it would've added only added about $5,000 to sell those seats rather than C deck. That doesn't feel worth it to piss off the 110 and it's supporters.

According to the Dispatch article today it was definitely a money driven decision.

You're definitely inferring that but there's no proof it was the case. The University wanted to make good seats available to alumni and friends - that's what the article states.

"good seats available to alumni and friends" in higher ed fundraising parlance means past, current and future perspective donors. Remember, Bobcat Club members got first shot at those seats - one of the benefits of being a contributing member (priority points).

I'm not arguing with that. It's how the world now works. OSU gives special seat selection access to donors. Same for CAPA arts series in Columbus, Playhouse Square events in Cleveland, etc.

Which means it was about money. Thanks for backing that up Al.
