Truth. Originally from the dispatch. This is when you have more column inches than news on your beat. Literally nothing about the game or opponent, just "coach gets name wrong"

Yeah, it's not a big deal. The fact that Aulbach has to write something about "Oh! Brian Smith called a Safety a Wide Receiver! Ha! Ha!" shows how petty sports reporters in Columbus can be.

Meanwhile Ryan Day has spoken previously about using the next two games (which would have been Grambling and Ohio) to get more people playing time and to see what he has; obviously dismissing the Bobcats as any sort of threat. Smith’s comment was probably an oversight before he begins game prep in earnest. Maybe Mr. Aulbach should understand Coach Smith has likely not been reading the Dispatch to keep up on Buckeyes news lately like the rest of his target audience sheep in the state. Day’s comment was not an oversight, simply straight forward arrogance.

Note: I don’t follow Day and the Buckeyes myself either but I watch Columbus stations some so consequently I can’t totally get away from it and pick up a few things.

As I go to watch both of my alma maters play on Saturday in Columbus (will be there with a convoy of 80+ and will be a big party), I am intrigued to see how the Bobcats matchup.

As the AI said, turnovers need to happen in spades. That being said, if we're going to leave our secondary on islands like we have the first two weeks, I sense some serious jailbreaks for OSU early and often. Gonna need Sayin to underthrow balls if we're gonna have a chance here. Otherwise, their speed on the outside and size up front will be problems by late 3rd quarter.

As to our offense, we need Navarro moving early and often, setting up play action like they did vs Rutgers, and getting the TE's going early. Getting OSU's defense to move to our QB will be vital in opening everything else up.

Snapping the doggone ball cannot be a sin here. First two weeks that has been a consistent theme and with OSU lickin their chops, we cannot let them feast on this. If we have a bad snap early, I predict 2 turnovers off of this.

Prediction: Win or Lose, We Will Booze (our tailgate starting at 10am......spread of the O/U at 3.5 people from the tailgate don't make it to the game). If anyone wants in on this action, we're standing by.

Game Prediction: OSU 38 Ohio 17

Aside from this being stupid, he clearly meant Carnell Tate.

Imagine you take a compliment about having two of the best receivers in the country and write an article about forgetting the 2nd ones name. "REPORTERS" trying to get into Brians head before the game. Weird.

Red pen. Circle it. Underline.

If the snap is even high, Navarro is going to have four first rounders in his face before he even realizes the ball is in his hands. And this kid hates taking sacks. If he rushes a throw across the field.......... 6 the other way.

Last night Channel 4 had a clip of Rufus tackling Brutus. Still get a chuckle out of that.

In any of the following Ohio wins starting with the Grobe years have the Bobcats ever not been the underdog? Minnesota, Maryland, Kentucky, Pitt, Illinois, Penn State, Kansas, Kansas, Iowa State. In any of the program's bowl wins, has Ohio ever not been the underdog?
We were favored at home against Kansas and I am pretty sure @Kansas as well. I am not sure about the latter.
I had to check this. The answer is, yes, we were literally favored by 9 points in a Big 12 Stadium in 2016.

Kansas was pretty lousy back then. In 2017 they also lost at home to CMU 45-27. They had an upset win vs Texas in 2016 but that was their only win vs 1A/FBS teams in 2016-2017. Their only other wins were vs URI and SEMO.

Wouldn’t mind a home and home with Kansas now. They’re significantly better but definitely still winnable for us.

I enjoyed watching that game in Lawrence. I believe it was the best defensive effort for a half I have ever seen from the Bobcats, 34 total yards in the first half!

It will be noticeable on Saturday that the 110 have been placed in upper C deck seats instead of the area around section 4AA behind northern Endzone. All I’ll say was this was an Ohio decision, not OSU’s. Not an OSU fan, but this wasn’t their doing.

Here picture of where Grambling band sat on Saturday for reference.

“Don't get caught up thinking about winning or losing this game. If you put your effort and concentration into playing to your potential, to be the best that you can be, I don't care what the scoreboard says at the end of the game, in my book, we're gonna be winners!” Now, "Let's win this game for all the small schools that never had a chance to get here."

Almost hoops season, and is definitely a staple for me every year.

I tried to research this myself. I can't find anything about it in our game notes or in ant college football historical data sites. So I tried asking Google AI, like I did when had it generate that poem. When I googled the google AI said that it couldn't find any evidence that we ever had along with retuning a list of websites. When put the search engine in AI mode it said this......

"The Ohio Bobcats football team has played against the #1 team in college football at least once, when they lost to the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes by a score of 45-14 in their game on September 13, 2025."

I'd say that it pulled information from several places, misinterpreted something, and then put it together completely wrong. But if we lose by that score then I might start a conspiracy theory. :)

I think that was pulled from BA. Speak of using unreliable sources!

Only one way to get respect.

If OHIO loses big, the OSU fans will think OHIO like so many teams over the years that they manhandled.

But if OHIO gets a few breaks, avoids stubbing their toes and plays very welll but still loses in a tighter game then the OSU fans will simply declare that “We took it easy on you”.

So the only way to gain true respect is to knock them off. GO BOBCATS WIN ONE FOR THE AGES…..

Tough to compete with that payroll. We had a 1/100 chance to pull an upset as it is. Throw in the cash and it seems pretty much impossible.

Unless something happens in the 1st quarter that says otherwise, take our starters out. May be embarrassing but we have to emerge healthy. As someone mentioned, Parker is too competitive to go down. If he gets sized up in traffic without seeing it coming, it would not be a good thing. Obviously we will not play a team with that defensive speed this year or anytime soon.

The 2008 game was aided by a very untimely missed block in the back that got the crowd going crazy given it resulted in a punt return for a TD. Both Spielman and Tressel referred to the missed call on postgame interviews. Always liked Spielman and had more respect for him calling that out on the postgame radio he was doing at the time. He added the miss happened right in front of him on the sideline.

We were flat out clobbered in the follow up Rufus Game.
