Let's just stay healthy next week and score a couple of times. With this defense we have the ability to run the table in league play.

Personally I’m hoping we put up at least 2 offensive TDs and a field goal and lose by less than 4 TDs, no injuries that linger beyond Gardner Webb week.

The leftover linebackers have really improved and the 2 starters are wallk-ons who got their schollies this spring. Depth looks great as transfer Hollobaugh came up with to me the play of the game with his interception.
Fries was big in yesterday's game but left the field in the 4th qtr with an injury. His parents were sitting several rows in front of me and when our trainers were out on the field on account of their son's injury, his mom turned around and let out a loud "F-U" to a fan a few rows behind her (I assume WVU fan), faced the field before turning around with another "F-U. That's my son."

I could be wrong, but isn't Ohio's other starting linebacker, Molnar, a scholarship player from the start?

You are wrong, Coach Smith mentioned both of them just earned scholarships in the spring during the press conference. Molnar was a tight end originally too.

Fries walked off following the injury. Didn't seem as serious as it first appeared.

I should add that Bobcatsquared's daughter is getting married in a couple of hours and he's still posting here.

Fries’ injury seemed to be hard contact to the knee on a nice tackle. Hopefully just a bruise or mild hyperextended. Also saw Jordon Jones out for a bit but he came back in. Cisse did well in his place. Dukes also came out…looked to be cramping. Only injuries I saw.

I heard this from several rows below.

It was the WVU fan that was very load whenever WVU did well. He was sitting behind her and maybe one seat toward the aisle. I wasn't paying full attention until she snapped back but I believe he said something like, "Get up you weak, @#%"

I've been a season ticket holder since Frank arrived and I've never, ever, sold a ticket. I generally give them away on here if I can't go. At any rate, by Brother In Law retired from the prison system and had a shindig on Saturday from 4 - 7. I'd like to thank some schmucks from Morgantown for giving my family and I $1,500 for 4 seats in the crappy metal bleachers that were added on whenever ago. I can't imagine paying that to watch my team lose, but whatevz! It was surreal seeing that crowd on tv. I can only imagine what it was like there but I also bet it was a cluster. It's hard enough to get a hot dog and a Pepsi when 5,000 people are there.

There are a lot of stories from this game. My favorite was a ton of WVU fans filing out with a few minutes left and the game very much in doubt. Then it made sense when I was walking past Baker after the game and seeing about 100 of them in line to board the last GoBus to Parkersburg. Like why would you count on a bus for transportation if you knew you wouldn’t be able to stay til the end? Guess they really thought they’d kill us lol.

Made a graphic to commemorate Coach Smith's first win at Peden Stadium as head coach. What a win and what an atmosphere Saturday was.

As Sunday winds down toward the beginning of a new week, I can't help but think this weekend will go down as my all-time most pleasurable and memorable.

Beginning with spending about 8 hours on Saturday in my favorite place, Athens, with some of my favorite people with the best atmosphere I've ever witnessed in Peden and around campus. Tailgating with my freshman son and several of his buddies, SBH and his wife, my daugther's fiance (at the time) and one of his college friends who flew into Columbus Saturday morning. My daughter and husband are 2021 Ohio graduates.

Ending with my only daughter's wedding on a picture perfect early September Sunday. With a strong showing of Ohio alum at the wedding, I had to include in my speech a little "OU, Oh Yeah" cheer and let all the guests know that the cheer never sounded better than 24 hours earlier in Peden.

Now back to the game: Sieh Bangura's stat line may not be too impressive, but I was impressed by his effort throughout the game. He only average around 3.3 ypc but all of those were hard-fought yardage against a defense that gave him little running room. He also added 3 catches for an average of 5.3 yards, but all of his targets were short throws in the middle of the field where he took some nasty hits from the WVU defenders.

And it looks like the coaches are feeling more comfortable throwing Duncan Brune out there as his backup. I can see this duo doing some serious damage against all remaining opponents not wearing scarlet and gray unis.

And, when someone else has the ball he blocks and blocks well.

I’m not so sure that there was much respect for us in WVU fandom. Check out their fan site. Complete melt down mode. Much of that appears to come from the Rich Rod haters who remember his exit after his first try there. They also think that it’s inexcusable that a P-4 team would lose to a G-6 school, or that any G-6 player could play for a P-4 team.

That’s funny considering Fred Perry and Cam Vaughn are two of their best players and they played at Jax St last year. WVU fans funny. We apparently had -320% of the crowd, they took so many tickets our band was the marching 10, and the only green in the crowd was because their well water turned their blue & gold green. But somehow with that massive home field advantage they still lost and don’t even see it as a self own. From my experience, there is a big, big, difference between real life WVU fans —super cool with some exception—and Internet WVU fans.

One more note about the game, Tank got called out a bit here after the Rutgers game. He played awesome against WVU.

Man, hats off to our defense. What a performance. We kept asking them to make another stop, and they did it. Who would've thought we would be -2 in turnovers and win this game.

How bout some appreciation for John Hauser. This feels like the 3rd year in a row, we entered the season a little shaky on defense. We consistently improved each of the last 2 seasons on D, and culminated in being absolutely dominate at the end of last year. We lose a bunch and already after 2 weeks, more and more pieces are stepping up as legit defenders.

Game did not go as I expected, but the offense had a lot of close/frustrating calls and coming up just short a lot. Hate to see 3 picks but 1 interception was a "screw it its 4th down chuck it" amid poor protection.

Chase Hendricks total bad ass, what a catch early on that 40ish yarder. He will be a big time target of the power conferences for his senior year, hope he sticks around here.

Maybe WVU passing game just sucks, but our secondary was great. Tank Pearson infinitely better than week 1. And good consistent pressure from the D-line.

Like many of you, had an amazing memorable day with friends and family in the happiest place on earth. Kudos to WVU for having the balls to come to town. Given our track record against power conferences in Athens, I am not sure when we will get to see another one.

A friend from high school married a WVU alum and has now become a big fan. He texted me before the game that "I hope you have some players left for the rest of the season after today's beat-down." I held off until after the game, responding "I think we'll be okay." No further contact.

Yeah, I think we’ve reached “No-go” status when it comes to P4 conference teams coming to Athens. Our best shot will likely be neutral site games. Once the Browns dome gets done, I’d be cool woth one game per season there.

I read so many comments online about how it was going to be at least 75% WVU fans there and that they bought all of our season tickets. Boy was that overblown, just as I expected.

Hard to tell but I'd say it was at least 60% bobcats. Their fans wearing gold stood out a lot more but we had numbers on them I'm sure of it.

If the P4 move to 9 game schedules there could be less of it. The teams Ohio has mostly had at home in recent years were Big 12. Many of those programs will struggle to land a home/away with a Big Ten or SEC program and have to settle playing G6 teams.
