That's awesome. It's possible my boys could someday need a bone marrow transplant, but hoepfully it won't come to that. There aren't a lot of good matches for my youngest son. Anyone who gets a chance to get their mouth swabbed to be in the registry in case you're the match someone someday needs.

I agree getting in the registry is important. A number of years ago the older of my two younger sisters needed a bone marrow transplant. My other sister and I both were tested. Unfortunately, we were both good matches for each other, but not for the sister who needed the transplant. As an alternative, they were able to use her own bone marrow (after a cleansing procedure). The good news is that my sister is now about 23 years post-procedure and still doing well. Neither I nor my other sister have ever been called on since for a transplant donation but we are both in the registry if needed.
