I’m not even a fan of OSU, and your comment is totally irrelevant to what OHIO does. I just find it funny all the “OHIO” fans that have a disdain for OHIO football (mainly because they feel it holds basketball back).

The broad reaction amongst alumni and students won't be disappointment. Or relief. It'll be indifference, like everything else Ohio-football related.

Maintaining the status quo hardly ever draws attention.

I want to stay FBS.

Living in Youngstown I can tell you there is a stigma about YSU being 1-AA (which is what most people call it).

They can beat us, win National Championships and still carry that label.

That being said, most people are surprised when I say Ohio is FBS and at the same level as the Power 5.
Which of course we really aren't. But we aren't 1-AA!!!

I won't be disappointed. FBS is far from perfect but so are other sports.

Think about individual sports that have Top 100 rankings. Is the Top 100 really the Top 100 best or does it leave out some very talented athletes for whatever reason?

Old sayings apply here. Life isn't a circus and it isn't a fair.

Amen Billy that last sentence hit the nail on the head for some Ohio fans.
Count me in as staying FBS. And to some the feeling won't be "indifference", it will be enjoyable.

I don't understand the view that it holds basketball back. For example, would the academic center be there, if not for football? Does the academic center help recruiting for all sports, not just football? Do people think that Ohio could get into the Big East or Atlantic 10, if not for football?

Guessing some Ohio fans think that in hoops, Ohio could move on to the A-10, not sure about the Big East, if football were not in the way? As for the academic center, doubt it would be standing if not for football.

I'm looking forward to the Northwestern game next September. To be honest though, it's more for the trip to Chicago to visit good friends than the game just like it was for Tennessee. If staying in 1A allows us to keep doing that, that is certainly a plus.

I really don’t care either way. College athletics are going to become irrelevant in non P5 programs rightquick.

I wish there was a strategy behind it like that. But what they are thinking is to pay Boals 200k more as if it makes a big difference and claimed they sold out for basketball.

What they completely don't understand is the reason some of those mid majors pay so well is because of a track record of success and raises following NCAA tournament appearances. Very few mid majors coming off a bottoming out like the Saul years pay what Ohio does.
