Topic: MAC teams must play at least three games to be in MACCG

There's nothing on the MAC website, but ESPN reports it. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/30217094...

Winning percentages will be used to determine divisional tiebreakers, followed by head-to-head results. If needed, the league would then work through its normal tiebreaker process. So if two teams in a division are 3-1 and one team is 3-2, the 3-2 team would apparently be out and the league would use head-to-heads between the 3-1 teams, with other tiebreakers if the teams didn't play each other, to choose who goes to the MACCG from that division.

Just another reason why Buffalo has an advantage playing NI this season while the Bobcats play at CM. The Huskies won't be as good as CMU.

The fact a team could be in the MACC after playing just 3 games in a joke. I mean come on. How would that be deserving or any indication of a title contender? They’ve already chopped the MAC schedule down from 8 games to 6, and now a team only needs to have played 3 games to get in? Wow. I found it somewhat stupid to even have a MACC this year but it could be pretty ridiculous to see what a team looks like in Detroit.

Big deal. CMU was only picked 3rd in the West by the coaches and they likely won’t even have their starting QB vs Ohio. And CMU was already on the original schedule for Ohio. So was Toledo and Ohio avoided them and they were picked first. Between those two games Ohio got the better deal. Plus Buffalo never wins in Athens and that’s where this year’s game is.

Buffalo may struggle to win in Athens, but it will be a tough chore for Ohio to win in Oxford. Guessing Buffalo with five wins and Ohio with four wins would put the Bulls in Detroit for the title game.

I'm don't think everyone will play all 6 games - resulting in a messy, unbalanced group of results in the East. With this being the first time in several years Ohio wasn't picked to win the East, I could see that type of mess in the standing being exactly what enables Ohio to not only get to Detroit, but to win once there as well. It's been that kinda year, I could totally see it happening.

True. I expect a lot more bowls to be cancelled. But until they are, the MAC has to schedule as if the bowls will be played.

I'd rather the MAC give a break to teams that play more games. Maybe do a "games behind" system so a 5-1 team would wind up a half game ahead of a 3-0 team (+2 in the win column and -1 in the loss column). The system the MAC has could penalize teams that test negative.

Bowl season? In a year like this? I could care less about pretty much any bowl the MAC is a part of in a normal year, let alone this one. Roughly 2/3 of all bowl games are essentially glorified scrimmages that feature a bunch of teams that are disinterested in playing in them. I'd much, much rather have the MACC pushed back and make sure a true East and West champion is decided on the field and to fairly decide a MAC Champion. Fill whatever bowl spots are available with the 3-6 MAC schools. Playing in the MACC is greater and much more important than any of these MAC bowls.

I think NIUs defense is their best asset. They maybe able to create turnovers in that game and try to control the ball. I think Miami vs Ball State is the advantage game. They already beat them last year in a game which knocked us out of the race.
