The new schedule has 35 games. The Quick Lane and Fenway bowls have joined the cancellation list, with the Montgomery Bowl replacing Fenway just for this year. The Vegas Bowl might also be cancelled.

CBS says the new schedule gives the MAC only two guaranteed tie-ins: the Spud Bowl on Dec 22 (four days after the MACCG) and the Arizona Bowl on Dec 31. There are also several at-large or "pool" openings that MAC teams might fill: Frisco, Dec 19 (2); Myrtle Beach, Dec 21 (2); Boca, Dec 22 (2); Camellia, Dec 25 (2); Cure, Dec 26 (2); Independence, Dec 26 vs Army; Armed Forces, Dec 31 vs an American Conf team. There also are several at-large openings vs "P" teams that probably will be filled by other "P"s.
