I read the other day that since joining the MAC back in the 1990's, Buffalo is a miserable 1-11 in Athens! In short, Peden Stadium has been a House of Horrors for UB! And many of those losses have been complete blowouts including two years ago when a really good UB team came to Peden and was simply demolished! Ohio has simply owned - I mean OWNED - Buffalo in Peden! I think Ohio is catching Buffalo at the perfect time too. Everyone is talking up UB and OU is flying under the radar. Buffalo has shown time and time again they can't win in Athens no matter how good they think they are. Seeing is believing, and I have seen Buffalo lose time after time after time after time in Athens. I expect to see it again next week and think Ohio is going to burst Buffalo's MACC bubble.

We'll need to do it without Rourke. That means Armani needs to get better passing quick. We can't be one-dimensional against this team.

Also, we need to find a way to contain Patterson. He needs just 80 yds for a thousand, in only his fifth game this season.

I'm not too worried about it because Ohio has locked him up in all of his career meetings. He's done next to NOTHING against Ohio as he was 13-52 in their loss at home last year and 8-23 in their loss in Athens in 2018. Ohio will be ready for him.

That was when we had Poling and other great LBs. Kid is a senior now. Patterson isn't going to be easy because of what we did in the past. And if so....they still have Marks Jr.

I love how we control the tempo in Buff games and we usually wait for BUFF QB to make a mistake.

I think we need to put 8 in the box and pressure Van Trease as well. He's not a great passer.

I'm not going to entertain serious thoughts that we can win this game with Armani Rogers as our starting quarterback.

From little I have seen of him so far, I would agree. But, I am eager to be proven wrong.

If Rourke can't play and things aren't clicking after a couple drives with Armani Rogers, we should give C.J. Harris a try.

I am glad to see my fellow Bobcats pumped up for Buffalo, but it is hard to look past the fact that our two victories come against some truly atrocious football teams. Here is to hoping that our Bobcats can rise to the level of competition needed to beat not only Buffalo, but Kent State too. Likewise, let us hope that Covid doesn't raise it's ugly head again. Go Bobcats!!!

Going to be a tough game. Not confident, but hopeful. Will be watching and rooting for the Bobcats, as always.

You're right. In 2017 we had a defense that gave up less than 100 yds a game rushing in conference games. That has steadily gone up the past three years, and now we're giving up 216 per game against CMU, Akron and BG.

No way is this game in the bag for Buffalo. Look at what they've done in Athens since joining the MAC, including two years ago when they were loaded. As good as I think Buffalo looks (and they do look good), as for a win over Ohio in Athens, I'll believe it when I see it. One thing is for sure, the winner of this game WILL be East champion and I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be surprised at the final score in this one.

Has anything official even been announced yet with Rourke?

Buffalo opens as a 7 point favorite. Seems Vegas realizes their inability to win in Athens too.

I haven't seen anything official. But here's what Solich said in Jason Arkley's story Saturday:

“It’s an injury that’s probably going to take some time to recover,” Solich said. “We’ll get more information from the doctors, but yeah, it’s something that will probably take a little bit of time.”

Considering our season has only 12 more days in it, that sounds season-ending.

I don't think I would've tipped my hand this much if I knew he was definitely going to be out. I would've said he is day-to-day and made Buffalo at least start to prepare for a pocket passer as well as a runner. Maybe Solich is playing poker and getting them to commit to preparing for a running qb. I'm trying to be optimistic.

No real new info in the presser today. Solich said that Kurtis has been “around the team”, that they would have a better idea of the situation today, to speak more on it tomorrow.

The younger Rourke showed some progress v. BG (maybe BG's lack of effort/talent had something to do with that). I even thought he was channeling his older brother in one 3rd-quarter drive with a couple of nice runs, something we haven't seen from him beforehand.

Buffalo is going to stack the box and force Armoni to throw. They know the option is coming.

This is where a 5-wide, double-TE formation would come in handy. Force Buffalo to cover the field by spreading them out. Armoni could then pick and choose when to run and throw. He could literally do that all night and we could control the clock.

Scoring first is going to be big in this game. It forces VanTrease to throw more than 17 attempts and our DBs have been in the right spots here lately. We have to make VanTrese throw. PERIOD. He loves posts, corners and crossing routes (Pro play action routes). We need to blitz a few times this week. Take a break from the bend but don't break philosophy this week.

Yeah, you could see him gaining confidence every time he pulled the ball down and took off with it. In the first couple games he seemed a little lost when he couldn't find an open receiver and was slow to get his feet started. And it was good to see the offense running several true option plays with a RB out on the edge. It made BG's defense hesitate just enough to get some good yardage out of it.

The line is now 11.5. This is probably a function of the money not knowing if Rourke could play or not at 7 to he likely wont at 11.5.
