Reminds me of another Huff (of a different hue) who once interviewed for the Marshall football HC job.
Good one! NFL Hall of Fame member and native West Virginian Sam Huff is 86 years old.
A friend of mine was on the selection committee for the new coach after the crash. Let me put it this way, he was not impressed with Sam Huff as a prospective coach. He was an excellent football player, but he apparently — according to my friend — had a real ego problem. In fact, though they interviewed Sam Huff, he was not invited to be interviewed. He just flew into Tri-State Airport on his private jet, drove to campus, and presented himself as the prospective new coach and the savior of Marshall athletics. The committee was hastily convened to interview him. My friend said it was quite a circus.
