Not much patience in Austin. Tom Herman is out, sounds like Texas Wants Steve Sarkisian. The arms race continues, hard for the Big 12 and PAC 12 to compete with the likes of Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State. As a matter of fact, even Big 10 and SEC schools can't compete with those three. We shall see.

How do you define compete? Because on a money and resources end, not many rival Texas.

Well that didn't take long, Sarkisian has been officially announced as head coach. It must have been in the works and that's why Herman was fired. Billy, my guess is they certainly have the money and the in state talent to compete. However, the expectations are sky high and for some alums, they seem to think they can turn the clock back and every 5 star high school recruit will want to come to Texas. Not that it can't happen, but Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State have such a strong foothold.

It wasn't too long ago that many people believed Jim Harbaugh was going to make Michigan Great Again. They aren't any in any better position now than when Brady Hoke was at the helm, and they are paying Harbaugh 7 million a year for the privilege. BTW, Texas has to pay Herman 15.4 just to leave. I can't imagine many of our employers paying us the .4 to leave, let along 15.4 million. No one said it had to make any sense!

Hate to see the timing on this with Alabama ready to play for the national championship. That's one distraction they don't need.

Texas has so much money flowing through it, that's it's practically bursting at the seams. Money is NOT their issue.

Their issue is they still have this "good ole boy" network of people with money who think they have a say in who the coach should be and how the program should be run. They need a dictator like Saban or Meyer to come in there and literally say "this is MY team, screw you." I don't believe Sarkisian is that guy.

+1

After seeing what happened with Lane Kiffin, definitely not a desirable scenario to play out for Alabama football.

As to the firing and hiring, some booster pulled the rug out from underneath Del Conte. It was either fire him and I'll cover the bill, or else pull my $$$ annual donation which you know writes checks.
