Only two games this year but after winning one the last one seems to be going OK too....Ball State 27-0 over undefeated San Jose State after one quarter.

The MAC might win the Capital One Bowl Cup. Buffalo and Ball State are representing the MAC well. Game is far from over though. Imagine the kids in Arizona and Cali wondering who Ball State is beating #22 SJSU (recruiting).

Plitt comes off a training table and throws a bomb in 5-wide, double TE. Safeties had to stay on hash marks for double TE seams leaving WRs open 1x1. Wish Ohio runs that formation. It’s my favorite. Can run jet sweeps, QB counters off jet motion, etc.

SJSt has outscored BSU 13-7 since the first quarter. They got in an early hole and couldn't dig themselves out. Really shot themselves in the foot with four INTs including a pick six. Big game by BSU's defense. They've held SJSt to just 69 yds rushing, and one of SJSt's TDs was on a 99-yd kickoff return.

I'm sure the MAC is the only conference in FBS history to go unbeaten in non-conference games for the season. So there is that, FWIW.

This will make a really difficult trivia question 30 years from now.

Does anyone know if this game will be archived anywhere? I was not able to watch due to previous commitments. You used to be able to find archived games on ESPN3, but I’m not sure if this is still possible.

Ball State very quietly had one of the better seasons among the G5 teams. They finished the season on a 7 game winning streak, ending the season beating then #23 ranked Buffalo and now #19th ranked SJSU. Impressive.

All the more impressive, they did it without their top RB. He had 437 yds in three games but missed the last five games -- three with an undisclosed injury and the last two after he opted out to prep for the draft. Mike Neu may be turning things around there. In another year or two he might get serious attention from bigger schools.

How many years did it take this BSU regime to rebuild and win a title? Asking on behalf of all Ohio fans who were around in 1968.

But Ball State is a basketball school in a basketball town.

Said it before but I haven’t said it this year. This staff just doesn’t recruit enough good football players and get them on the field at the same time to win a MAC championship. While we are better than we were 30 years ago we’re just never going to win one with this staff.

With the disastrous results that fell upon the regular MAC football season, it is a minor miracle that Buffalo and Ball State redeemed the conference the way they did. While other more vaunted conferences have taken a tumble, we owe the Bulls and the Cardinals a debt of gratitude for the kudos the MAC has been receiving from the national sports media for going 2-0 in bowl performances against ranked teams. This saved us from the ridicule the PAC 12 has been receiving, especially from those who thought San Jose deserved to be in the football playoff discusssion. Ball State made short shrift of that conjecture.

There are lots of points of view as to whether our beloved Alma Mater and the MAC should even remain Division I, or recruit top notch high school football players. However, Ball State and Buffalo have made their own unique statement concerning those points.

Ball State was able to blast the MWC Champions because the MAC is in Division 1, specifically the G5. The MAC #2 Buffalo defeated CUSA #2 Marshall for the same reason. The MAC would not attract half of the player and coaching talent it does if it were to drop down.

Neat stat I found. Half the MAC ranked this year in Top 25 of offensive ppg. Kent State was #1 overall in FBS this season with 49.8 ppg.

1. Kent State 49.8
4. Buffalo 43.4
10. Western Michigan 41.7
21. Toledo 35.0
23. Ohio 34.3
24. Ball State 34.2

Monroe was the one who kept saying the MAC was the worst college football conference in the entire NCAA so therefore it should be a cake walk to win it every season. So far from reality.

I haven't been following the ridicule the Pac 12 is receiving. Do you have any links?
