In a magnanimous move, LSU gave itself a self-imposed 1-year bowl ban. Never mind that LSU has slumped to 3-5. Never mind that it is for a football season when most teams have written off multiple scheduled games and would like to write the whole season off. What a gesture on the part of an institution at the highest level of US education. Geaux Tigers.

Hate to give you the athletes perspective of what's really going on there. But back in summer at the height of racial tensions, the LSU players wanted to show speak out against injustice and Coach O had a meeting that didn't go well with players.

Same summer, different university, Ohio University encouraged its athletes to participate and did not hold it against them. Several students, such as Julian Ross, are on committees within the university leading change.

We all know OBJ gave them money after the championship game which led to violations at LSU. But self-imposing during a down year is just the obvious thing to do.

I hope Coach O addresses the meeting with his team and smooths things over. Might see some transfers from there sooner or later if he doesn't.

Agree with Bobcatsquared about LSU's decision. And as for the basis of the ban, it goes way beyond a team meeting this summer and/or OBJ's handing out money to the players after the game and more to activity by team players from last year that went on for a while and that could/should lead to NCAA sanctions. LSU has been investigating the allegations all fall.
