More Covid issues on our side. A 6 game season with the 2 games we were probably all looking forward to the most getting cancelled. Stinks.

Just cancel our season at this point right? We missed Miami, we missed Buffalo. We aren't going to play in the MAC Championship game. What's the point?

While maybe not the best reaction, this kid has the potential to be a finalist for the Heisman. I get his reaction. He's cocky, he's successful, and he has every right to want to play this game. There's been quite a lot of secrecy about our numbers this year. Weird that this has occurred for two games completely separated from each other.

Any chance we try to still play Miami at this point? Maybe everything gets pushed back a bit.

I don't think so-I think both games have been declared "no contests", at least according to ohiobobcats.com.

It was just a little harmless gamesmanship. It sucks to be a player and see games get scrapped just as it sucks to be a fan when we're 24 hours from a title fight at home. Tomorrow is officially stupid now.

I agree, but I the games will probably go on. The MAC still has five or six bowl slots to fill, assuming that the bowls will still happen. Yeah, it's ridiculous to think about bowl games, but the MAC will be because of the cash from ESPN. The West has three teams that will likely qualify and Toledo has an outside chance. Ohio or Fiami would have an outside chance to get in at 3-1, but Kent at 4-1 would be likely.

Sometimes it's just best to admit that the game is over. We are at that point. Send the kids home and we'll see you in late January.

Man a Bowl game would be a blast, locked in your hotel for 3-4 days away from home over the holidays.

Between our game being cancelled as well as the Kent, our next opponent, Miami game also being cancelled I would estimate the season is over.
With the new rule, where this season does not effect a players eligibility, it will be interesting to see how many seniors come back for next year. I would think that schools that have more seniors returning will have a leg up for next year. This will also effect recruiting in a big way.
Thoughts?

We know that Patterson will be gone to the NFL after this season -- he'll strike while the iron's hot and not risk injury next year. He IS the Buffalo team, so that means Ohio, Fiami and Kent will be the favorites for next year, assuming that at least most of their seniors return.

This season amounted to an extension of the spring ball season that was cut short. We got about four months of additional practice, some PT for the newbies and had a chance to work on the QB situation. If Rourke recovers ok, we should be in pretty good shape for next year.

As for recruiting, all or nearly all incoming freshmen will be redshirted next year. That means the full recruiting class will likely have a year of getting used to the system without using up eligibility, which bodes well for the following season. A big question mark may be Solich's contract. It runs out next year, so are recruits thinking it will be his last and pass us by?

Common theme, OHIO is one of the favorites after every season.

Does anybody know why our team is the covid hotspot of the MAC? Three MAC games have been cancelled and we've been the cause of two of them. Is our testing different from the rest of the league's? Better? Worse? Are we quicker to pull the plug than the rest of the league (i.e., being more cautious)? Are our guys being lax or are they just the victims of circumstances?

I have a suspicion that in both of our cancellations we had more than enough personnel to play but due to key absences would have gotten our butts kicked.
