Or very well maybe that he's really just that big of an asshole in the department and has worn out his welcome. If you know Doc, it's really not that hard to imagine!

I saw an article last week that had Doc as a possible for a "P" gig. They cited his record at T'erd and the end of his contract, which would make him a more economic choice.

Probably already have the replacement.
What do they pay football HC in salary?
With a new staff and related expenses probably $2-3 million total expenditure once the dust settles.
FWIW Doc always looked pissed off.

Given the politics behind this move, I expect Marshall to be back on probation within three years.

Heck, there's even speculation that the governor wants Bobby Pruett (he of the $200/hour machine-shop jobs program for recruits) to be rehired. This will not end well.

I'm down for a BA Betting Thread on this topic, especially depending on the hire

He turned it down pretty emphatically.

Split Zone Duo is a great podcast for college football nerds. They talked about the Marshall thing and apparently there were some politics involved...like state government officials having a say in it. (as SBH mentioned)

They wanted Pruett a few years ago after Doc had one bad year, even though he had a string of 10 win seasons.

A good fit and a nice little step up for him. He plays an exciting brand of football and would have a better opportunity there. I don't like Marshall, but it would seem like a good pick.

Maybe this is part of the triple-secret master plan to bring them back to the MAC This might be a two-holer for some Marshall fans.

Our boy Chuck has his own thoughts on the Marshall search...

I'm not sure if he is aware, but South Alabama already has a head coach.

Good one! NFL Hall of Fame member and native West Virginian Sam Huff is 86 years old.
