Great to get the monkey off our back with a road win. Getting kicked in the teeth early, then fighting back to wrestle this one back was gratifying.

Parker had a great day on paper, but I couldn't help feeling nervous with him at times because of some of the decision making and turnovers. Hauser deserves great credit with the defense - EMU did not have one rusher gain over 50 yards.

Special teams remain a disaster - no wonder the kid misses it every time when the protection up front is abysmal. Have to fix that up front before trying a field goal again.

That field is definitely ugly… But what about our prevent defense at the end of the game that gave up two big bombs and a touchdown in the last minute?

It looks like we are going to survive, and while I think we control our own destiny, the MACCG feels unlikely. We struggle on the road. A lot of high schools have a better kicking game. If Molnar and Williams are out for a long time then key player injuries are really piling up on defense. We might end up with a tougher MAC schedule than most contenders. I'm not all that hopeful.
I checked the injury list on the MAC site. Eamonn Dennis and Cam Hollobaugh were both listed as out. If Hollobaugh and Molnar are both out for a while that's a problem. It is a good thing Fries was back playing yesterday. I wonder if Fries and Christopher both start next week. I think they were both originally "Mike" backers. Seegars is out for the year on D already. I'm hoping for good news on Molnar and Williams but neither was able to put any weight walking off.

Dennis doesn't play much WR but might be our best special teams guy.

The upcoming Battle of the Bricks cannot come down to field goals if we want to come out on top.

We all know OUr kicking woes (and it's not like the misses are long enough but just wide left or right). Miami's kicker, on the other hand, hit all 4 attempts yesterday, the difference in a 9-pt win v. WMU with a longest of 51 yards. On the year, he is perfect on 22 XPA and is 12 of 14 on FGA, including making all 7 attempts between 40 and 49 yards.

A good win on the road, thank goodness. It looked pretty bleak for a while but the offense controlled the last 3 quarters more or less and the defense except for that maddening last drive was pretty much lights out.
The reality is that we will play 3 teams going forward which have overall total win/loss record of 13/11. Our wins this year have come against teams with a 14/27 record right now. Can we beat 3 teams that have a pulse?

Agreed. Why haven't they given the other kickers on the roster a chance?

Maybe the coaches should try open tryouts for kickers. There might be somebody on the men's soccer club team or elsewhere on campus who can do better than the 50% our current kickers are doing. The NCAA stats for kickers only go down to .667 percentage and that's Akron's kicker, who's 115th in D1A/FBS.

Our kickers are missing extra points and kicks less than 40 yards. Pull a girl off the NCAA soccer team.

Funny enough, I'm starting to think even one of the players from the Lady Bobcats soccer team may do better.

That game was rough to watch. I am glad we escaped, but after watching this one and Ball State...you don't have a ton of confidence for WMU & Buffalo road games. We need to turn a few different corners quickly.

Buffalo was my road loss prediction, I've backed off a bit since they barely beat UMASS and then lost to Akron. It's a long way to November, so hopefully we figure it out (and they don't), but a post thanksgiving game in Buffalo.... NO THANK YOU.

Since our BALLS loss, it's hard for me to figure out who is Jekyll and who is Hyde, but I'm still confident in the team building into Miami, Western... those will be tough ones, especially if we're battling injuries.

We're getting better about pounding the rock, and sticking with it. That was always my gripe with Albin I felt like we would abandon the run entirely, then randomly go with 3 straight runs up the middle and a punt. Next series, 3 straight passes and a punt. I like our mix. We still need to lean on Sieh more. I'd give him 25 carries if I could.

I'm not *that concerned with Parker, you take the good and the bad, but damn if I don't wanna yank out my hair when he keeps taking grounding penalties. Buddy hates taking a sack more than anything in the world, which occasionally he'll slip out for a big run - but other times... INT across the field, grounding, etc

Navarro is usually one read and then bail out of the pocket. He is really good at getting out of the pocket and improvising but there are a lot of ways for this to go wrong. I am guessing the staff has encouraged him to try to not always do this. It seems if he gets to a second read in the pocket his footwork is often messed up on the throw and since he is used to being out of the pocket if he needs to throw it away he has a tendency to just throw it away in the pocket.
