This game deserves its own thread. I watched the end of it. The easy with which NIU went down the field to score the go-ahead TD (with two point conversion) makes NIU the team to beat in the MAC this year. Very impressive. In a post-game interview their coach seemed really on fire and motivated to make NIU great again. He's a former player who said his goal was to stay there for the long-haul. Sounded kind of like a potential Frank in terms of longevity.

You're right again Ohio Cat Fan. Being familiar with the team, tradition, local area all matters. Though Coach Solich wasn't an alum, he was a Holy Name graduate from Cleveland who knew the area. Coach Fitzgerald at Northwestern has the program back to a level that seemed impossible 30 years ago, relevant and in contention for Big Ten West title just about evey year. I think it is the only way non-elite big boy schools have any chance.

How is this relevant to NIU rather than Northwestern?

Maybe Jeff Boals would be a better analogy.

+1. That's my sense of the man. Time will tell.
