Thought I'd kick off some discussion about the opening week opponent. While not top of the heap, still exciting to have an ACC team visit Peden.

Looks like the Bobcats will have to prepare for two QBs:

Syracuse has a lot of tradition, historically an upper tier P5 program.

All time post season record of 16-9-1 .635 which leads all ACC programs.

Their fans are delusional. They lost 10 games last year, yet their fanbase is dismissive of MAC teams. I know, everybody's gotta look down on somebody, but this is ridiculous.

I saw an opening line of Ohio -1. One other game was -1 and there was one pickem.

It will just be fun with a team like Syracuse. The last game I saw like this was Pitt at Peden….we won and the town went nuts.

I'm sure some are...

Most fans I know expect (or hope) to win but realize they can easily lose too.

The Vegas spread should tell everyone this game could be really close.

To be fair, they won 1 game last year and we won 2. ;-)

It's legal for me to bet on the game when I cross into West Virginia for 15 minutes driving down 77, right?

yep it takes me about 10 minutes to get to a spot in west virginia that the fan duel app says i am in state. During football season i make that drive early on Saturday morning then come back home and watch my games all day long.

It's way overdue that Ohio legalizes sports gambling. Every single border state is legalized. Ohio is missing out on millions of taxable $. What is stopping our lawmakers?

I think if our football budget was nearly the same size as our opponent's entire athletics budget and our opponent's coach was just replaced unexpectedly after very few media experts predicted great things for this season, we'd have an understandable expectation of winning.

I've followed the MAC long enough to see P5 fanbases disappointed plenty of times, but expecting to beat a solid MAC team as a P5 team isn't really delusional. Just fans being fans.

Let's see - just off the top of my head they're too busy trying to prohibit mandatory vaccinations. And not just COVID vaccine, but those that eliminated or protect us from polio, hepatitis B, rubella, tetanus, measles, etc. . .; suppress the vote of certain populations in our state; impose harsh new penalties on protesters and their right to protest.

You realize they played 10 ACC teams last year. We had a FB playing OG...they were a shell of a team with Opt Outs and Injuries.

Entirely new team this year...if we have 10 losses this year it is on Babers.

After this opening game, I'll be rooting for you all the way. After starting 0-1, here's to an 11-1 regular season for Syracuse.

Gambling is not conducive to the strong family values of the legislature.

(I cannot believe I typed that with a straight face)

exactly! But man this board will be electric when we beat Syrcause, someone will even talk about Top 25 and how great a season we are going to have. Syrcause isn't even the best team in NY.

Agreed. While I think the ACC is a bit overrated, at 1-0 I think we would deserve to be in the Top 25.

Forget about talking about being top 25 or how great a season Ohio is going to have. This board will go straight to advocating an expansion of Peden to 45,000.

Didnt Solich refer to this recently during his retirement announcement, saying something like having a big celebration but not setting something on fire? Does anyone remember this?

Interesting article, thanks. From what I've seen of DeVito and what they report about Shrader, the primary concern for the Bobcats is prevent plays these QBs make with their legs. DeVito tore up WMU a few years back with QB runs.

I mean... we should, IMO. Have to prep for that AAC invite after UCF, Houston, and Cincy go to the Big XII
