What's the date that they roll out the balls for the start of basketball practice again...?

At least we're saved the agony of having a late-season loss derail our hopes for a MACC.

It'll be a little embarrassing, though, to be among the small minority of teams not playing in a bowl game this year.

It is going to be quite some time before we go bowling again.

This team looks lost. The defense is clearly bottom of the barrel, but the offense has no excuse being this bad.

I wasn't paying that close of attention, so I thought that coach Albin was either elevated to interim coach, or received a two-year deal. When my best friend was lamenting what we've seen for two games, he tried to cheer me up by saying we won't have to be in this situation long term. So I was stunned, literally floored, when I looked it up and read that coach Albin was signed for four-years!!! Without a track record? Why was that necessary? I can't even remember the last time I was this down on ANY team I've ever followed this early in a season.

Toledo gives #8 all they can handle, Kent lays 60 on their FCS opponent, Ohio is completely listless against a 10 loss ACC opponent, then loses to a 2nd tier FCS opponent. Hello bottom...that didn't take long.

I tend to be a rose-colored glasses optimist…but I am prepared for this to be a dismal 4 years followed by a long-long rebuild.

Data points are terrible at the moment. Syracuse beat us 29-9 and the commentators were writing it off as they must be one of the nations best improved teams. It was a P5 team and we know even in the best Frank years a smack down by a P5 happens.

Syracuse this week goes out and loses 17-7 Rutgers which says they really didn't have an offense but we made it look like they did.

This team has ordinary defense and not enough offense to put away a NEC football team. It was like that near disaster game against Howard in 2018 that almost came true. That year Ohio beat SDSU in a bowl game 27-0.

Is this team the worst in the MAC I'm not sure but what I am sure of is the lack of progress in this program right now.

Anyone watch the post-game presser? Too many excuses for my taste. Why is he admitting that Ohio will not go right late in games that start at 2 pm because of the sun?
He’s talking about coin-flips and wind direction? I’m not a football coach, but this guy sure seems out of his depth in this role. Losing pressers are tough. I’ll give him credit for taking responsibility early on but then he began to offer the excuses. Coaching is everything at this level and these first 2 games show it, from my perspective.

After Charlotte upset Duke, I looked at their roster.

They have 50 transfers. Literally. So I decided to look at a few other late emerging mid-majors. Coastal Carolina has 31. South Alabama has 34.

I see a trend here.

The frustrating part is that we have a pretty solid roster with plenty of talent. With a halfway decent head coach this would be a good team. Unfortunately, we have the worst head coach I have ever seen at any level of athletics. No idea what this Albin guy had on Frank.

Ohio assistants don’t earn big salaries. He was promised a shot at being HC, I am pretty sure. I feel bad for the guy, personally. It’s hard to learn that you’re talent is not enough for the task.

I seriously question the talent level. Our recruiting has been mediocre for several years. Kurtis Rourke is not a D1 QB. Armani Rogers is not a D1 QB. it even seems Tuggle has let the $$$$ payday from BobcatAttack.com go to his head. Kidding.

Not sure the recruiting is going to get any better. Look at where the current 2022 class is compared to the rest of the MAC and FBS. Make's it even harder to recruit when your team loses to an FCS school...

I'm not sure losing to an FCS school makes that much difference in recruiting.

Gotta believe that NIL is going to upend most of what we thought we knew about recruiting serious talent anyway. Where is OHIO’s NIL play going to come from? Totino’s, Holzer Health, the Burrito Buggy? Being in a picturesque college town and tiny market may now be a recruiting detriment instead of a plus.

I just can’t see a lot of small school players getting much of anything. Jett signed something with some smoothie place (he used Ohio logos on the graphic for it, so I hope that doesn’t screw him up), but do any of these players really have the local eyes to justify what a business would have to give to get them to promote them? The other problem is the cost for these players to pay for graphics to be made, videos, etc… Athletics/University staff can’t help them, so who’s going to make content for them on the cheap? Can’t even provide them advice, so who’s going to make sure they stay out of trouble with copyright and what not? I don’t really see anyone in the MAC going to say an OSU and making a killing off of NIL playing 4th string. I think if a player transfers in from a P5, either he’s got a name to warrant some National pull, or he’s truly transferring down to get an NFL shot. The players the MAC will get will be the players the MAC gets regardless of NIL.
