if you looking for the conference that goes away. i think it is probably going to go to be conference USA. if the AAC doesn't take marshall. it seems like they are headed to the sunbelt. the commisioner of sunbelt was in huntington at marshall in the last month.

No one seems happy with conference USA would not be surprised if there isnt a new conference formed or the sunbelt and AAC eat up most of conference USA. maybe MWC taking a couple of teams

The B12 commish says it might not be done expanding. That probably means at least Memphis is still in play. Not sure if they'd go for SMU; they already have four Texas teams, so another might be too much. If they were to take two more AAC teams I'd bet Memphis and either USF or Temple.

Tulsa and SMU seem ripe for the MWC. MWC had TCU at one point so getting teams from Texas and Oklahoma is logical. It already has 12 teams and found 16 to be too cumbersome a few years ago when it was the WAC, so it's doubtful it would add more than two.

Navy could easily go back to being an indy. They have a name, they have a history and they have a nationwide fan base, so finding quality teams to play should be no obstacle. They're a football-only member of AAC, so that's no big deal.

Tulane and Temple/USF could easily wind up with CUSA. They're all in or close to the CUSA footprint. Sun Belt, despite the presence of App State, Coastal and Louisiana, still has that 1AA/FCS feel to it.

I doubt that Temple (or UMass) would come back into the MAC as a football-only school. Neither ever really seemed to fit and for Temple (at least in its mind) it would be a step down. They thought going from the Big Least to the MAC was slumming it and merely used the MAC as a waystop until something they thought was better came along.

Unless its an all sports package, I doubt it. Temple jumped ship once they got hot for a few years under Al Golden, and now they're basically back to where they were before joining the MAC. I don't recall the reason why UMass left, but they probably would prefer to stay in the A10 for their other sports.

East Carolina has been trash lately but they're a relatively strong program that cares a lot about football (enough to fire a winning coach) and a natural rival for App State.
ECU and App like to run in different circles (as do most of the schools here). ECU would be an interesting addition to the MAC (perhaps with a James Madison also).

I could see that happening if Marshall and WKU were added at the same time. Too bad we couldn't drop EMU and Akron at the same time.

Army, Navy,UMass and Uconn football only to the Mac. That makes sense for everybody. Good academics and competitive football that fits in the Mac. Ohio, Buffalo, Akron and Kent State other 4 teams in East division.

I wouldn't hold my breath on Army joining a conference anytime soon. They went down they road prior, and alumni hated it. And USMA alumni are influential.

Plus, they and Navy have been adamant that their game be the last one before the bowl season. Unless they're willing to change, having both in the same conference wouldn't work because their game would have to occur before the conference championship game.
