Well i for one will happily admit that i was wrong about this game! Fully expected us to get straight up butchered and i couldn’t be more excited to have been wrong!

Good game! Go Cats!

Right?! Gotta pull out the early Solich or Grobe playbook and figure out how to mix in the right pass plays and see what this dude can do.

It seems to me that Albin got back to Solich brand football in the second half instead of drawing up futile plays with zero success for skilled players that we simply don't have. What Solich teams had was toughness and physicality. We are not going to razzle-dazzle anyone, so get those boys back in the weight room and simply make it clear that -- win or lose -- we are going to at least win the battle in the trenches. Perhaps, I am too old school, but just get out there and manhandle the guy in front of you and put a helmet on them. If nothing else, win some respect of your opponent by leaving some bumps and bruises on them.

Though Rogers is an awful passer, he seems to give us far more upside than Rourke does at this point. If we can dominate time of possession on offense, keep the ball moving forward, and get the defense to up their intensity and nastiness a bit, I think that we have a chance of upsetting even those teams with more speed and better skilled players than we have. After all, MAC teams have no shortage of inconsistency on their rosters, which is why many of those kids are playing on a MAC team instead of in the Power 5 conferences.

These broadcasters keep saying we run the triple option. Are they dumb, or am I oblivious as to what the triple option is? My brain looks at Army/Navy for that, but am I missing us running it?
They…don’t know what they’re talking about.
Allison, Rogers and Tuggle sounds like the only 3 options needed in the second half.......

I’ve turned the sound off so my two-year old can watch Paw Patrol on the second TV.

Really enhances the experience of this slap fight.

I literally was doing the same thing. Had the radio call in my ear buds.

Well at least we are trying something different. Can Rogers throw at all?
Not really lol
Is he any worse a passer than Rourke was yesterday? Rogers completed a long post against Syracuse. I thought his throw to the corner of the end zone yesterday was decently placed but thrown into double coverage. (The ball went through our receiver's hands.) The only way Rogers can win 4-5 games as a starter this year is by mixing up.

Oh, by the way, he also has to start pitching the ball on the option. There were a couple of instances yesterday when Tuggle or Allison had better opportunities for yardage but Rogers kept the ball.

Why can't we use Rodgers most of the time and Rourke on 2nd and 13 and 3rd and 7?

I agree with this. Great use of Rogers and the RBs, with some a jet sweep and a reverse tossed in. Next is to sprinkle in a passing game… Historically when Ohio forces the defenses into putting 8 men in the box even the weakest passers could exploit the single coverage. I mean didn’t Kareem Wilson even complete a big pass or two?

One of my favorite Ohio stats from the Grobe Era: One year Kareem Wilson lead the nation in the category of "fewest passes attempted" by a QB. I'm not advocating going back to that extreme, but your point is well taken.

Things are so bad on the Akron forums today they are discussing firing their D3 coach and replacing him with a D2 coach.

It was nice to see the OL really start pushing around the defense in the second half. I was there for the game and the second half was fun. Pretty loud group of Bobcats on hand for the game.

I think with the injuries and less experienced players having to fill in, it's easier for them to be effective getting a push run blocking than in pass protections. Even with the backups, we have a lot of size on the OL. Meservy being back helped also.

Obviously glad to see the offense start clicking in the 2nd half Saturday. The offense will need to work in some passing game to beat MAC teams not named Akron.

Also liked seeing Daxon getting some playing time and making an impact. I know Irons felt his "impact". In all seriousness though, if Irons was in concussion protocol prior to the game, why would they put him out there? He was obviously delirious after the Daxon hit - coach needs to consider the kid's health for Pete's sake!

I made this my road game trip again as I usually drive home to pick up family for this game. At least it is a nice stadium and fun trip. Anyone going?
+3

I am expecting the defense to start to make some stops and thus lots of punts between the two teams.
So the +9.5 should actually be the over/under on total points scored? 😂
Might be close. Ohio is averaging 9.7 ppg vs 1A teams and Akron is averaging 13.7. If the Ds show up, it could very well be a 6-3 game.

In reality it's 55 (?) on CBS's app. I'd probably take the under on either one of 54.5 or 55.5 and feel pretty good about it.
This goes to show ya that Vegas is better at this stuff that we are. +9.5 wasn't as bad as we thought, and pretty close to the 55 that was out there on the +/- .

We did not attempt a pass the whole game at Akron in 1997. He only threw 54 times all year.

I would suggest you question the source of OUr BA poster who put this "inside scoop" on here last week.

Well, they also had us something like a -28 against the Dukes, and a +1 against The Orange Marmalades.

I think late money came and we went off as -1 vs. the Orange.

My first trip to Infocision and it was a great day. Seriously. My wife, an OU professor, is from the Akron suburbs. We took the kids to the in-laws and headed in town for the game. For being one of the all time worst MAC programs ever, I'm surprised at how great the game day experience is. That's an A+ stadium. There was tailgating and a nice little scene on Exchange Street. Reasonably sized crowd. Very friendly. Browns PA announcer. Bummer that the fans and the city have such a terrible product year in and year out. Some schools would love to have that kind of infrastructure.

My favorite stadium to travel to. So nice and nobody goes to the games. It is a lesson on how not to do the stadium. Get the money first, then build your stadium.
