[QUOTE=ExVideoCat] If anyone still cares, Julie is currently on the coaches show talking game day experience. If you listen to the replay it’s at 35 minutes in.
Pulling this into its own thread. Julie Cromer came on the Coach's Show to talk game day experience and 0-4 start. Glad she did. I have asked for and heard accountability for the game day experience being rough and a disappointment at our 0-4 start. Not a lot of specifics but accountability or at least an acknowledgment that game day was bad and 0-4 start/play on the field is not Ohio football. Again, good on her for wanting to address it and nice job by Russ to ask the obvious yet tough questions, especially as an employee.
Link to the release on the show with link to Coach's Show.

Tbh, I think she’ll be good AD. I think she’ll make things right later on with the football situation and she’s only been here 2-3 years I believe. Give her some time before saying she isn’t going to improve OU sports

Good on her. Stand up move to come on the show and address game experience issues. It will be interesting to see what is put out next week with regards to details of the game day experience.

Right answer to Russ's question on team performance - it comes down to the head coach.

It was refreshing to hear her address the glaring issues surrounding football this season ... on the field and in the stadium. I came away with a few thoughts ... one was that it almost felt like "peer pressure" provoked her appearance on the show? It's been 2+ weeks since Duquesne and nearly a month since Syracuse and you're just now addressing and acknowledging the shortcomings for the in-game experience? Meh. With today's communication tools at your fingertips to reach out at any point, I would have liked to see a more proactive approach rather than a reactive one. But nonetheless, I credit her for answering for it. Now, I'll believe the improvements when I see them. But I'll try to remain optimistic.

Another takeaway is that she has no real pressure from anyone to answer for these things. Student media isn't going to ask the hard hitting questions and Arkley (who is AWESOME) isn't doing this full time anymore. So she has very little in terms of media scrutiny. I think that allows for the lack of urgency to address any of this.

And in terms of her comments on Albin and team ... nothing shocking. Pretty vanilla answers which is honestly expected from anyone in her position. The rubber hits the road at season's end ... especially if they finish 2-10 or, gulp, worse. What tune does she sing then?

All in all, a step in the right direction. Let's hope it continues that way. Only time will tell.

All & all I felt somewhat more optimistic about Julie's admission around the game day experience, falling short of the plan. Corrections have been made and we should expect to see these come the next home game.
Additionally she also stated concern over "the poor execution" on the part of the football team and being disappointed with our W-L record.
Is she drawing up a list of potential coaching replacements yet?

OK, well, I thought it was a bland statement about accountability without saying the responsibility lies with her and that she apologizes on behalf of the department. She implied that the responsibility falls with her operations guy.

Secondly, they had been overwhelmed with complaints after the Dukes game. She should have offered her "apology" the following Monday...or the next Monday. Perhaps she or a member of her staff has been reading this forum and finally realized they had to say something. Everything about this department has been a sh%t show in 2021.

Thirdly, the first fan to receive the honor of an email reply from Julie Cromer wins a genuine Super Beef Hoagie sandwich from Souvlaki's. (Must be redeemed between 11pm - 2:30am.)

Honest question: is Souvlaki’s actually open outside of the hours of 11pm-2:30am?

As one that can attest to whether the AD answers E-MAILS she doesn't, unless you are a big time donor.
My E-MAIL was to both the Pres & AD last year. This note was not addressing the athletic departments successes or failures but rather addressed ALL the communications for giving.
They both forwarded it to some underling who did answer my E-MAIL. Net result was no change in the quantity of E-MAILS referencing giving.
Now I have supported the Bobcat program for over 20 years and do not need to receive numerous giving communications on a monthly basis. This Gary E-MAIL has been sent out over 5 times so far this academic year. Enough is enough.

Quite comical that one would expect the athletic director of a Division I athletic department to answer the emails of fans. Also, not sure why email is capitalized like that. Seems as if we're shouting about digital communication.

Rabbi, you and I haven't seen eye to eye on a lot of things over the years. However, I agree, the athletic director of an FCS powerhouse has bigger things to worry about than replying to an e-mail about the amount of e-mails someone is receiving. Seems a little hypocritical if you ask me.
Anyways, here's to turning a new leaf Rabbi, maybe you can join my family and I at Christmas this year.

In fairness, their stadium set up is different than Peden, they have the space even though the stadium is an urban setting, the layout allows for easy expansion of green space, food and ticketing. Some things I am sure we could learn here in the North EZ, but it's not Apples to Apples.

Here's a thought that might already be in existence but it doesn't sound like it. Develop an app that lets fans order and pay for concessions so all they have to do is stop by somewhere and pick them up. The concessions people would only have to take and fill orders, and not have to fiddle with credit card machines that might or might not work but certainly slow down the process.

Of course, if we lose to Akron Saturday lines at concession stands probably won't be much of an issue.

They also have recently been accepted to the Big XII. I think their fans would expect something like this.

When do I collect my prize? I received an email from Julie Cromer last evening in response to my email regarding my game day experiences.

Was it personalized or just a generic copy & paste response?

I trust you hold a position of responsibility regarding large groups of attendees, during Covid. I trust you would have executed the games flawlessly.
Easy to shoot from the hip as a disgruntled alum. Hope most alums are not like you.

What does COVID have to do with concession lines that were 45 mins long for a bottle of water?

What does COVID have to do with our high level donor area having ZERO concessions available in their private area?

Guess that's someone else's problem, right Jer?

Good to see you can use COVID as an excuse but ignore the fact those concession lines in the cramped concourse were essentially superspreaders.

Sorry ... just a disgruntled alum shooting from the hip.

I'll blame Santa Claus. Maybe he can be held accountable? Or the Easter Bunny? Maybe Rufus the mascot ... can we blame him?

Let's not blame anyone and rejoice in what has become 2021 Ohio Football! That work, Jer?

Staffing levels are low in all service areas because of the pandemic. It is hard to find staff - most restaurants have open tables but not enough servers/line cooks. The same would apply to concession vendors in Peden/elsewhere. That means less staff and fewer stands open. Longer waits. etc.

As for the donor area, no idea other than incompetence. Maybe being unclear or University COVID protocols but doubtful Heard that had a problem with staff in that area as the University asked all of their development folks to volunteer to work that area and pretty much no one did. Still have not idea why concessions would not be in there.

I was told their beverage vendor was a no show. In that case, get some bins, fill them with ice and plastic bottles of water and soda. Problem solved. There were 3-4 GAs standing around up there...mostly monitoring their social channels.

Hey, that's great news! Meet me inside the restaurant at 1:45 a.m. on Saturday of Homecoming weekend. I'll be the one who appears to have been drinking.

Overall I’d love to see a concessions overhaul. But… Come on fellas. Logistically it ain’t this easy. A vendors ghosted and totally screwed Athletics. Google university dining hall staff shortages. It’s gonna be a struggle all year….

KyleWvr13-Not a cut and paste reply at all. The email addressed my concerns in detail and I might add that I am not a "big time" donor in any way-just an ordinary season ticket holder.
