It sets up “a pillow fight” with Akron. More unwanted attention.

Losing at home to a team that we paid to beat will do that.

I didn't have high expectations for this season but I didn't have losing the Dukes on my list. All the credit to them for coming into Peden and smacking the Cats in the mouth.

Some geeky sportswriter (sorry, "content architect") who thinks he's being creative and funny. I'd love for a couple of players from a "Bottom 10" team show up at this guy's office and threaten to beat the shit out of him.

Yes, there is sarcasm in these articles so I do see the point that you are making but this Bottom 10 article has been like this on ESPN for 20 years. It has just been a while since Ohio has merited mention. But I think that if you do a ranking then it is fair to rank every team all of the way to the bottom. Not being willing to do that is sort of like not showing the bottom teams in the MAC standings out of fear that the bottom teams might be offended.

We have absolutely earned a ranking in the Bottom 10 of the FBS. If we don't like that then we need to start winning some games. They can shock everyone, including me, and beat Louisiana tonight. I'll be watching and rooting.

Came here to say this. The Bottom 10 has been a staple at ESPN for a lonnnnnng time. I think it's had several different writers tasked with the job, Mark Schlabach comes to mind. If we dug back deep enough I bet we can find Ohio several times over.

This guy has been doing these FOREVER on ESPN.com, but he’s definitely gotten full of himself and cranked the snark to 11 the past few years. It’s not nearly as entertaining as it used to be.

Agree, I don't really understand what he's going for a lot of the time now, and it used to be a feature I really enjoyed. If I remember correctly, the epic Ohio vs. Buffalo tilt in 2002 was the Pillow Fight of the Week, which I was excited to attend in person. Turned out to be a really good game, too!

Yeah, threaten to assault that guy for an article on the internet! Yeah! Awesome!

We should send this to Marty & McGee so you can be featured on the show on Saturday for Hillbilly Headlines.

And maybe see a therapist.

I wonder just how many FCS teams would have beaten us this year…(for the record, SP+ computes 32 FCS teams as being better than us, but counting down to Duquesne makes it 36…so about 30% of the FCS, by that metric)

This is a more serious analytical ranking than the snarky one on ESPN.

Instead, do something constructive. Don't click on it. The more clicks, the more they think it's popular.

These things are more fun when the "P"s show up. Snarking at the dregs of the G5 is petty. It's like making fun of the kid in the wheelchair.

Speaking of rankings, looking at the NCAA stats our defense is actually doing better than O$U's. Ohio is 106th, giving up 435.7 yds per game. O$U is 118th at 471.3 yds per game. Probably won't last long -- they play Akron this week.

Great ending to the game. App St up 31-30 with two minutes to go and T'erd out of timeouts. The App St running back busts one and T'erd defenders backed off to let him score so their offense would have the ball in an eight-point game. But the RB slid down at the T'erd five so his team could take three knees and come away with a win. Really head's up play.

I too watched the Appy State/Marshall game and it was good. I also had the same thoughts about why we could not sustain playing at that level and how those programs even though they are similar to ours are light years ahead of our program. Sad, really sad.

Equally sad is how App State’s conference, the Sun Belt, has “leap frogged” the MAC over the past 5-10 years. Before that time there wasn’t much doubt that the MAC was better. Now? Just the opposite (football). It might be in the MAC’s best interest to study how they pulled it off…at least if it is serious about some form of relevance.

Somewhat related to that, I personally would like to see Marshall back in the MAC. However, if I am them, and with what all is going on with reorganization, I’m wanting to have the sun included as part of the logo on my jerseys.

Even with the defections, the AAC still could be a better place for Marshall, although I haven’t really studied all the details. The AAC should try to poach some of the better G5 programs out there if they want to remain relevant. I can’t believe that Buffalo and maybe Toledo won’t be considered as top targets by them as well as Army.
Upon further review, not sure how AAC remains viable as a P-6 conference. They’re in deep doo doo as far as keeping relevant.

(Whispers loudly) they were never a “P” conference in anyone’s view but their own
