Spread has us losing by 20 so that seems accurate

I would be surprised if we lost by less than 40. Louisiana is no joke.

This seemed like such an important game at the start of the season. But now it's primary importance is that both teams are trying to avoid the tank. The Cajuns are 1-1, losing by 20 to Texas in what was supposed to be a statement game for them. Then they survived 0-2 Nicholls St at home, 27-24, after Nicholls scored two TDs in the last five minutes, including one with 33 seconds left in the game. We all knew it would be tough for Ohio to win this one, but considering Ohio has only three days to get ready after what has to be a HUGE letdown, the tank likely will come to Athens this week.

Weather may be a factor, not only during the game but also before. TS Nicholas is bringing rain and wind to the Lafayette area all week, with the most coming during Ohio's Wednesday travel day. Weather Channel says flash flooding is likely down there from Wednesday morning through Thursday morning. At least three to five inches of rain by week's end.

Louisiana is going to be a challenge for sure but they are not the same team from last year. They only beat FCS opponent Nicholls by 3 while giving up 511 yards of total offense.

While they still have Levi Lewis at QB, they did lose their 2 top RBs (Mitchell & Ragas), so there is still some hope, assuming we show a great deal of improvement.

It would seem to be a very tall order to get the W this week.
I believe the only way for us is to force multiple turnovers.

Don't be surprised if this game is either moved or cancelled, weather is real bad down there.

The worst of it is supposed to hit Louisiana tomorrow, which is Ohio's travel day, through Thursday morning. They might have some power issues but the biggest problems will be rain, wind and possible tornadoes. Wouldn't be surprised to see the game pushed back to Friday or Saturday.

Here are a couple of thoughts about this game. As for the weather, if you have ever been to south Louisiana for any length of time you will know that 5 inches of rain in a day for that area is not a big thing. Secondly, I watched ULL's game with Nicholls last weekend. After that I came away with the opinion that Ohio could win the game. What I saw last weekend was not the ULL team of last year. Take nothing away from Nicholls, but ULL was not that impressive even though they were playing in their own house at the Swamp. However, the way we have played these last two games, I would expect Nicholls could hang 50 on us without breaking a sweat, let alone ULL. We better come to play and have a game plan.

How do you expect us to hang with the speed of ULL when we are throwing out a less quick/more injured team on both sides of the ball?

According to the Ragin Cajun site linked at the top of this thread, the rain has moved out and they expect a dry kickoff with a good attendance. So, we can't rely on rain being the "great equalizer." We are going to have to win this game by playing superior football. Go OHIO!

What are the odds that last week was a trap game for both teams? Both teams fared poorly against "P" teams in Week 1, then underperformed vs 1AA teams in Week 2. Were both looking past last week's opponents to this game?

I mean, it’s possible that Louisiana Lafayette was hung over last weekend from the Texas game. Of course it’s also possible that our guys were just hung over…

Wouldn't be the first time our team has spent time at the bars on court st the night before the game.....

Maybe getting blown out will give us a chance to look at some new players.

Not saying that I want that to happen…or that the back ups will perform any better.

Just saying.

Personally I am looking forward to our boys showing some progress both on the O and D.
I would like to see a fast start on O and forcing some TO's on D.
