Punting from your own 35 should be a fireable offense
Ask Lane Kiffin. Had a 4th and 1 from his own 34 in the 3rd quarter vs Arkansas, went for it, didn't make it, the Hogs then scored and tied the game.

On another subject, coming into today Rogers was 5 of 12 for 55 yds. So far, 6 of 7 for 130 yds.

The FG at the end of the half for CMU could be big. We've given up TDs on the opponent's first drive of the second half in three of the first five games. If they get one here, that makes it a ten-pt game.

It was disappointing that we tried the FG (that missed) on 4th and 2 in the first quarter. The offense has scored just one first quarter TD this season (special teams also had vs Duquesne). Would've been good see them go for it in that situation.
I think he meant from your opponent’s 35. Why not go for it. It’s fairly likely that the opponent will get it as a touchback, although it didn’t happen in this case.

There are a lot of bad tacklers on this defense. Bryce Houston is not one of them.

Cannon is one of the worst I’ve watched in a while

Looking at the team stats through the end of the third quarter and it’s CMU’s penalties that are keeping us in this game. And we’re +1 on turnovers.

Lane Kiffin went on to win that game

I sat there and took it on the missed PI call followed by the sideline penalty.

The offense is a little better, but I’m not seeing us winning any more games with that defense and kicking game.

Tough loss for the Bobcats as part of the Tim Albin Farewell tour. Say, is anyone selling Tim Albin Farewell Tour shirts? Perhaps, we could have a Green Out at Peden stadium full of fans wearing them.

Head official should’ve called side line warning not a penalty after the missed PI. He took us out of the game as 4/2 went to 4/17. Horrible call! Took the game from the players.

Ok he called unsportsmanlike like. He had the option of a warning so the players could decide the game not him.

I'd give him a pass on this game because we never beat these guys.

But we have really just one team left on our schedule that is a truly winnable game, BG on the road. We could very well do an oh-fer at home this year.

Stick with Armani. He's really improved through the season and Buffalo's rushing defense is A LOT worse than CMU'S.

Get the tackling dummies out and have the defense all Monday learning to tackle. Most of them are playing pinball, not wrap-up. CMU should never have had that last TD.

It wasn't a sideline warning, it was unsportsmanlike conduct. espn didn't show what happened, but someone pulled a Crash Davis and must have used a word that's a no-no with umpires (refs).

Thanks... makes sense and is 100000000% culture. Does not happen with a head coach in control of the team. Just awful

Not surprised ESPN didn't catch it. Announcers calling the game from home. Directors seem to have robotic cameras. Nobody on the sideline to find out what's really going on. It's nice to have the games televised but if they're not sending crews to the site, it would be better to have the Russ and Rob audio feed. I'm not sure the announcers even identified themselves.

Putting on my optimist hat, and assuming we start Rogers and he plays the majority of the game, I'll predict:
OHIO 35
CMU 21
For a lot of this game I thought I might have hit the nail on the head with this qualified prediction, but in the end I should have known better. We can never beat CMU -- especially on homecoming.

Well hopefully the quarterback starter decision should be a lot clearer now. Rogers did a good job throwing the ball. I think he gives us the best chance to win a game, but what do I know. What do you guys think?

Rogers is QB1.
