It was refreshing to hear her address the glaring issues surrounding football this season ... on the field and in the stadium. I came away with a few thoughts ... one was that it almost felt like "peer pressure" provoked her appearance on the show? It's been 2+ weeks since Duquesne and nearly a month since Syracuse and you're just now addressing and acknowledging the shortcomings for the in-game experience? Meh. With today's communication tools at your fingertips to reach out at any point, I would have liked to see a more proactive approach rather than a reactive one. But nonetheless, I credit her for answering for it. Now, I'll believe the improvements when I see them. But I'll try to remain optimistic.
Another takeaway is that she has no real pressure from anyone to answer for these things. Student media isn't going to ask the hard hitting questions and Arkley (who is AWESOME) isn't doing this full time anymore. So she has very little in terms of media scrutiny. I think that allows for the lack of urgency to address any of this.
And in terms of her comments on Albin and team ... nothing shocking. Pretty vanilla answers which is honestly expected from anyone in her position. The rubber hits the road at season's end ... especially if they finish 2-10 or, gulp, worse. What tune does she sing then?
All in all, a step in the right direction. Let's hope it continues that way. Only time will tell.
