Yesterday I wondered why Allison was in instead of Tuggle on first and goal from the Kent one. Of the three plays from there, Allison got the ball twice, once for no gain and the second time for a two-yard loss. It got me digging into his stats and they show something strange. In the first five games he was doing great -- 256 yds on 49 carries, an average of more than five yds per carry. But in the last three games, just 47 yds on 27 carries -- 1.7 ypc. Tuggle has put up very good numbers the last three games -- 40 carries, 190 yds, 4.8 ypc. One would think that if Ohio only needs a yard at a key point in the game we'd have in the back who'd be most likely to get it for us. Add this to the head scratchers by the coaching staff.

The guy I sit next to in the Phillips Section was yelling before that play was run, "Why Allison?" "Put in Tuggle!" This wasn't after the fact, but before play was run. It seems the proverbial "fan in the stands" can call plays better than this coaching staff.

From my "fan in the stands" view, the choice of RB wouldn't make any difference in that or several other short yardage situations. The OL was getting zero push.

Agree about the offense of line. They have been very inconsistent. Big boy football runs the ball four times from the three yard line and scores or you don’ deserve to win. Maybe bring back the quarterback sneak from under Center with 3rd and less than one. How many times have we ask for that?

Same kind of thing happened earlier in the game when we were inside the 10 or so and had to settle for a field goal. You make those two field goals touchdowns and we might have won the game. I said it during the game and I will say it again settling for field goals is for losers.
