Extremely sad, it took him all of 3 months to run this program into the ground.....To elevate this idiot to Head Coach was absurd but it right in line with the same history that Ohio has repeated far too frequently. When Grobe left for wake forest it was the same crap. Elevate the next loser on staff to destroy whatever was built before him.
You mean the MAC Championship Program that the former coach had going?

He left the cupboard bare.

Sorry, very few OHIO players recently are 1st team all MAC. There is a reason for that, whether players don't want to come to Athens or whether just poor recruiting there simply is very little talent to work with the last few seasons.

Just look back to the early Frank years and recall the names of our players, the teams had numerous highly skilled on the field. Not recently. And when was the last Spring where Spring football was full tilt with hard banging during the big scrimmage. All great athletes are MADE in the off season. OHIO has to water Spring down so as not to gamble on injuring the several who are important to the current teams.

The program did not go downhill since a new coach was named.

If the board had let may CLASSMATE remain on the board you would have all been hearing how far the football program had slipped in the last 4-5 seasons. Add to that no objective media telling you what's going on and you get MANY HERE concurring that the new guy is 100% at fault. (Personally, I'd have hired a hot shot high school coach and paid him $100 grand plus performance bonuses and maybe OHIO wouldn't be OH and Two and be stuck for the next four seasons--did anyone ask Burrows if he'd like the job?)
I don't see how the program was in a 5 year slide when in 2016 Ohio won the East and won three straight bowl games from 2017-2019. It was one of the better stretches in Frank's tenure.

At best you can argue the slide started in 2019 when the team finished the regular season 6-6 (but did manage to win the bowl). 2020 third down conversions fell off so maybe that was going to be a 5-7 if played all 12 games.

But the real thing I don't agree with is the idea that a few bad years with Albin sets Ohio up for a 10 year rebuild. The main reason because of the ability to rebuild a program more quickly as it has been the case in basketball with transfers. Better play calling and 50 fresh faces can turn things around in the first year.

We may be lucky that Albin didn't have a big first year with Frank's recruits and ended up hanging around as HC for 8 years based off one season. That to me is more the Albin threat than getting ushered out after 2-3 seasons.

She had no choice. He wouldn't accept interim and we couldn't fill the position so late. Frank did us no favors.
This is a terrible argument. Trust me, he would have accepted an interim tag if the alternative was being let go. I also guarantee she could have filled an FBS HC role in some way, shape, or form with a warm body. She did a terrible job negotiating. Period. End of story.

This negotiating job to give this guy 4 years was beyond horrific and anyone who says different is out of their depths.

Did The Post publish his contract? I know this is not in there but should probably have included some sort of negligence clause that allows school to terminate contract if your 2-year Sagarin average rank is lower than 150.

I posted it in another thread (can't remember which), but I'll post it here too.

Section 9.2 is the clause outlining Termination Without Cause. If I'm reading it correctly, we are able to terminate the contract after 2 years without having to payout his contract, but I am by no means a legal expert.

Contract can be viewed here:

It also appears (I too am not a legal expert) that termination without cause prior to December 31, 2022, will only require a salary payout through that time. - Instead of a payout for the remaining time of the four year contract.

Fire Albin after one season and buyout 2022? Sounds like the SEC way not the Ohio way but its at least possible in theory.

The contract is for two years - because that is when we can get out of it without any penalty. With Frank resigning in July - we would not have had time to conduct any type of search. Replacement had to come from within - interim or not. So another year was added on.

Two year contract so we could see if he was out of his depth.

I watched Tim's latest news conference and he continues to look nervous and not really prepared. He is always talking to much with each question asked and in doing so he is repeating himself from answers previously given.

He doesn't project the image of a head coach. Lack of self confidence is quite apparent.

I agree it was rough but it was an improvement over last week. Also, the lighting and sound seemed better. Maybe they (AD) are listening to us.

Nah. You just have WOUB giving athletics their video instead of athletics setting up a crappy live stream.

So I just started watching the Albin post game conference and I was done after 2 minutes. He is so lame that I just can't watch/listen to him any more. The same will hold true for the weekly press conference for the upcoming game.
Someone needs to help him understand how he comes across.

I have trouble listening to him, also. Perhaps, the bad audio on some of the videos that I and others were complaining about was actually a blessing in disguise. Let me add, I get the impression that Albin is a thoroughly nice guy. In the end, he might end up being a good head coach, though I have serious doubts about that, but he certainly doesn't have kind of communication skills that Frank did. For all his coach speak, Frank was a real gem in that regard and many others.

In fairness, Frank is not exactly compelling as a public speaker. He may have been experienced (unlike Albin) but he never looked comfortable. I often wondered if that was one his problems at Nebraska. Handling interviews and the requisite fan / booster events had to be a much bigger deal for the Huskers.

First of all someone needs to help him understand how to coach.
