And since 2016 who have been the directors of that offense that stands there until five seconds on the play clock?
I submit that this is a point worth pondering.
All these are points worth pondering!

Well ... except for the inane babble from OhioBobcat

So many "What-Ifs" from Frank's tenure ... he always left us wanting more.

And now we're stuck with a guy who we're begging "we've seen enough! Not more! LESS! LESS! LESS!"

We’re not even through the first season of a new head coach and everything is ruined??? Give me a break. There are a lot of Ohio fans who have simply been spoiled by all the sustained success that this program has had over the past decade - and still complained about this program while and when it was winning - and in the first season of adversity, people are wanting to already run the new head coach off? And let’s not kid ourselves, if Frank was still coaching this season, many of these same people would be calling for him to be removed after this season due to this one season too. I have very much appreciated every bit of the success this program has had in the last decade (which many of our MAC peers would love to try and duplicate) and this team is still competing now despite the record. I understand the disappointment of the record this season coming off the heels of the last decade of success, but some people really need to get a grip. This team hasn’t quit unlike many “fans” on here have, they keep fighting. But you know what, many Ohio fans have been spoiled and are finally getting a taste of what a lot of programs face on a yearly basis. Maybe some of these fans are getting what they deserve through all of this, a bitter taste of reality. Because if this doesn’t make those people appreciate this program, then maybe nothing will. I get annoyed seeing so many players at schools all over the county leave schools nowadays at the first signs of adversity. The bottom line is a lot of fans aren’t much different. They want success but don’t appreciate it even when they have it, and want to run or start everything all over when adversity hits. It’s sad.
What exactly did we accomplish under Frank? He deserves all the credit in the world for getting this program out of the gutter, upgrading facilities, and raising the standards. But let's not kid ourselves, aside from a small handful of P5 and low level bowl wins, this program plateaued and couldn't take the next step. We lost to our rival in the only game we played as a ranked team. In the meantime, NIU goes to the Orange Bowl, WMU goes to the Cotton Bowl and gets Gameday to come to Kalamazoo. Every year, multiple MAC teams get 15-20 solid verbal commits before the season begins. I wouldn't trade our last 15 years for Miami's, but they at least have two conference championships in that time. There is absolutely nothing the NIU, WMU, and Toledos have accomplished that can't be done at Ohio. It's perfectly fair to be thankful for the level of success we experienced and also expect to ascend to the next step.
What did he accomplish? What did he accomplish??? Please tell me this isn't a real question. This can't be a serious question, can it? Holy $hit we have some ignorant and ungrateful "fans." Look at the history of this program before Solich, then look at what it did under Solich. Ohio had been to just 2....TWO....bowls in its HISTORY before Solich. He took them 11 bowls and won 5 of them! Look at Ohio's year-by-year records over the last half century, then look at what Ohio did under Solich. The only OU coach to do it better has his name on the stadium. Solich got his team into the Top-25, won a number of games vs Power Five teams and got to 4 MAC Championships by winning the division. And oh yeah, and he's the freakin' winningest coach in MAC history!!! As in #1. So get the hell outta here with that BS questioning man. The guy arguably did more for this program than ANYONE in its HISTORY, and you have the nerve to ask what exactly did Ohio accomplish under him??? That's beyond ignorant and downright offensive. F that question man. You may as well have spit in his face than to seriously ask such a stupid question like that. I hope that man doesn't ever read this board, he doesn't ever deserve to read such stupidity, especially coming from his own fans. That's beyond garbage.
Getting the bowl monkey off our back by beating Utah State is significant. After that, bowl games lost their luster for me. Horray, we beat UAB, UL-Monroe, and Nevada. I would expect us to be able to schedule home/home games with these programs. Who was the most talented team we've even played in a bowl game? Troy? East Carolina?

How satisfied have any of you been at the conclusion of any season? Don't know about you, but I sure do have a lot of "what could have been" takeaways at the end of our seasons. The end of 2006 was cool. Our first good season that ran into a vastly superior team in MACC. Being bowl eligible at the end of 2014 despite an obvious rebound year was alright. Other than that, there's been a lot to be desired.

It's good that for the vast majority of the Solich tenure, I could count on going to campus, get some good tailgate action, and expect to see competent, entertaining football, but at some point, you want what's next, and we never got that, even for a year.
The San Diego State shut out was kind of nice, too. The WMU near upset in the MACC was heartbreaking and a win there would have elevated Frank’s legacy.

With that said…Coach Albin is over his head. There is no legacy…there is only the impending rebuild. Sad to say it.

I would like to have someone shadow many of you at work and then report on it. That might be interesting reading.
Have you never had a supervisor?

Do you think you invented the tole of supervisor, here and now?

I get audited by mine quite often. Along with an FDA inspector.

If I wore a cowboy hat and sat on a crown to celebrate building half the stuff on the line wrong, I bet there’d be problems.

Actually Albin was thrust into this position. Could he have said "no" to taking this HC job?
Probably not. Kind of our "accidental coach"

If he was "thrust" into the position as an "accidental coach",
then there's no dishonor in him saying that it didn't workout and he's
stepping down, at the end of the season, "for the good of the program".

Let him be a "care taker" till then.

If I were the AD I'd be pushing him real hard to take this approach.

+1 Yes, that's another way out of this mess . . . an honorable way.

I would certainly respect and applaud such a move.

Otherwise he will all too likely be a lame duck coach next season, which will be bad for many reasons.

My gut tells me he will be in place until the end of next season and then a rebuild will be underway.

Right now our football program reminds me of the first few minutes after
Mrs. O'Leary's cow knocked over the lantern.
(yes I know its a myth)

There's still time to put the fire out.

Wait another year, our football program will look like Chicago, after the fire.

You know what concerns me the most about this thought? How it potentially affects Ohio Basketball.

My concern is that a bunch of the issues that are perceived as football issues are in fact issues that are Athletic Department issues. If that's the case, that could have an alumnus head coach considering other options sooner than maybe he previously would have. Maybe I'm full of it in this thought, but it's my concern based on observations of how things have been run since class was back in session and games were starting to be played, tickets sold, etc.

I agree 100% with your concerns.
So far, the AD hasn't inspired much, if any, confidence in how she's handled this or, in my opinion, pretty much anything else.

This is an ideal opportunity for her to demonstrate that her hiring was justified, based on her abilities.

Great summer camp song!

For those of you who are perhaps closer to the program, maybe receive more in-depth communications by way of being a season ticket holder etc...

Have you seen anything outlining say long-term vision, strategic plans, etc. for the future of the department? I'm aware of some of the inherent challenges and limitations Ohio faces, but just curious what is in the works despite that.

I try to digest as much as I can find but I'm far from any kind of inner circle that may exist.
