Thought it interesting to chew over this quote from our AD upon Tim’s elevation to HC. Makes me think OhioBobcat might be Julie Cromer’s USERID.

Here’s the quote:

“We are so fortunate to have someone with Tim’s experience, character and vision already within our program,” Cromer said. “There are few situations where a transition can be as seamless as this one. Tim has been an integral part of the sustained success of Ohio football, and with his leadership we expect to maintain our competitive pursuit of MAC championships, even as he establishes his own imprint on the program. We are excited for Tim to lead our football program.”

You’re now thinking that she should have said “yeah, i know we’re totally hosed this year, but continue buying your season tickets and making your booster contributions, pretty please!”?

What do you want her to say OCF? Better yet, what did you want her to do?

To me, this is similar to the spin we see in the political arena; telling half truths and outright lies till most folks see it and believe it as absolute truth.

OUr new AD comes in and hears how happy ALL are with the football program, the long term direction upward from the cellar for this program. She speaks to a few donors she was told could give her valuable input. She calls some fellow AD's to ask their thoughts and all they know is what they heard on MACtion telecasts for the last 10 years about how great of stabilizer the head coach has been at OHIO and what a GREAT staff he has put together and how the team, town and conference like what's going on at OHIO.

So the new, young AD buys all the hype without doing much due diligence because EVERYONE knows it is a seamless transition and WE are blessed to have this man available to keep it all going.

A Question that should have been asked prior to hiring and to give base for future conversations with the coach YOU are selecting:

OHIO's biggest rival, Miami, has gone bottom to top to bottom to top since you have been here as an assistant. Why, and what will you do differently to get OHIO to the top in the next two years?

I see the list of ALL MAC players over the last five years--OHIO is significantly under represented, my question is: can the staff not recruit or can the staff not coach-up the talent?

I assume the answer was hit the bottom first. Was that what you were getting at?

Of course she's going to spin it in a very positive direction. I just thought in retrospect the exact choice of words that she used was somewhat ironic.

It definitely wasn't seamless. So let's shake up college football and let him go and go hire Deion Sanders lol. Deion might be a disaster in Athens, but damn it would be fun 😂😂

We can’t afford Deion Sanders*…best we can afford is Leon Sanders.

*his current base is $300k, so technically we could, but something tells me he’s got his sights set on a higher profile destination when he leaves the SWAC/his HBCU than our beautiful corner of Ohio

We are on the same page here. That's why I posted the quote. I thought it was almost humorous in retrospect.

Whenever I try on those emperor's new clothes, they look bulgy and wrinkled in the mirror. What up with that?
