I don't think the A.D. really cares what the fans think.

She doesn't seem to be under any pressure to address the debacle that the football program has become.

Now that the season is over,I would have expected some statement from her expressing at least disappointment.

As has been pointed out here by several posters, she's been pretty non-responsive
in the past.
Why would anyone think that will change.

Personally,I think she's more interested in the outside committees she's on,then O.U. Athletics.

You can find an interview with Julie Cromer on YouTube where she talks about evidence-based decision making and mentions the importance of transparency in communication. What evidence is she seeing? She admits that you can make the numbers support anything! How long before there's some transparent communication to the public?

Surely some conditions for a second year could have been laid out in the contract! Thanks to Cromer the decline is certain.

The words "snookered" and "schooled" come to mind when describing what happened to the A.D.with Albin.

Why?

She gave two years, negotiating without any leverage, at a time where she couldn't conduct a legitimate search. What outcome were you hoping for?

No leverage! Where else would Albin be going in July, besides the unemployment line? The AD has poor instincts!

Albin wasn't going anywhere. Everybody knew that. Particularly Albin. If you think there's any scenario where Albin wasn't a part of the staff this year, you're delusional. Solich retired less than two months before opening day. Please outline for me how Cromer was meant to run a national search, give the new coach time to recruit and hire a staff, and get the team ready to play in a month?

Not sure it’s a positive but I find myself daily checking the transfer portal.

At least it gives me something to do.

I’m hoping nobody else leaves and somebody shows up.

There you go again! No one has suggested that there should have been a national search in July. You're making that up! It should have been an interim appointment. If it's true that Albin rejected an interim appointment, then the AD was snookered.

Without the option to go outside of the program for a replacement -- which everybody accepts wasn't an option -- what reason did Albin have to accept an interim appointment? And what leverage did Cromer have to get him to do so? What competition was there for the job?

I'm curious to hear how you think she should've handled the negotiation. Albin says no to an interim appointment. How are you suggesting she avoid "getting snookered"?

You're awfully close to suggesting that Frank and Company were actually in charge of the contract negotiations. If that's true, then it may be worth another embarrassing season to restore some order and true accountability.

I'm not remotely close to suggesting that. That you're avoiding very direct questions about the "leverage" you insist Cromer had says a lot.

I'm not suggesting some conspiracy. I asked very direct questions that are central to my understanding point of view here. That nobody can provide a decent answer says a lot, I think.

When were assistant coaching contracts for the 2021 season signed? (I’m presuming most of the assistant coaches are on 1-yr contracts, renewable, though I’m happy to be corrected) i suspect that even had the AD found a new/outside head coach in the ~3 weeks before summer practices started. they would have been severely restricted in their ability to bring their own staff with them based on our existing salary commitments.

If Albin indeed rejected an interim appointment, she should have called his bluff. Other institutions find interim coaches! I suppose she just wasn't up to the task. Was she not aware of the downward trajection of the program in recent years?

So we've now gone from the AD having all the leverage to "she should've called his bluff" in a single move. If the only strategy you can suggest to counter Albin not accepting a deal that is in now way in his best interest is "call his bluff" you don't actually have any leverage or strategic levers to pull.

That the contract ended up with a two year out is an strong an outcome as was realistically possible. I get people are emotional about this and want someone to blame, but I just really struggle to see any rational reading here where the AD got "snookered". She negotiated the shortest possible, non-interim option and did so 1.5 months before the season started without the an actual market of candidates to use in her favor. That's a good outcome.

Curious, what connection do you have with Cromer that drives you to her defense?

You caught me. Julie Cromer is my grandmother on my Dad's side. You're a very strong detective, and I'm really impressed you sussed this out.

To be very clear, all I've done here is ask you and rpbobcat to defend your position that Cromer was "snookered" and "schooled" and asked a few really simple questions.

In response, you've avoided 2 of 3 questions completely, suggested I'm trying to state that Solich was secretly negotiating the contract on Albin's behalf, and are now suggesting that to hold my point of view I must have some connection to Cromer. The only answer you provided was that you'd have "called Albin's bluff" -- which isn't the answer somebody with cards left to play would give.

So yeah, maybe I have a close, personal relationship with Julie Cromer.

Or, maybe, I'm just some dude on the internet who has no connection to Julie Cromer beyond the fact that she's the AD at the university I attended. And you're suggesting the only way somebody might think differently than you on this matter is a personal relationship with Comer because now that you've been asked to support your opinions, you've realized that your view here is purely emotional and lacks any rationale backing, so you're projecting your own irrationality onto others.

I know which I'm putting my money on.

How many BA threads, ongoing and otherwise, have BLSS going back and forth with one or two other posters? And I believe each one includes BLSS claiming the other posters are not answering his questions. Prolific.

Why don’t you just pound your head against the wall? These “fan”atics want what they want. Just win baby! Even when we win, it’s not enough. It is very amusing.

Personally,I didn't think Ms. Cromer was the right choice for A.D..

As I've posted,if she was so great, why didn't she get the Arkansas A.D. job.

So far,she hasn't done anything to show she was the right person O.U.

Julie: "Tim, we can offer you $450,000 on a 1 year deal as the Interim Coach as we see where this thing is headed."

Tim: "Absolutely not. I will not do this for less than 4 years."

Julie: "This conversation is over"

Julie proceeds to pick up the phone and dial one of 450,000 phone numbers of people that would be willing to lead an FBS program for 1 year of transition while she has perfect cover (excuse) that Frank left her no time to formulate a real gameplan. Instead she did the ONE thing she should never have done and gave Albin a long term deal.

This whole thing is an embarrassing joke. No matter how I try and give her the benefit of the doubt, she got hoodwinked. This is not the same program that Frank relinquished 4 months ago - it's gone straight down the toilet in every way possible.

Call Mullen. Raise the money. Fix it.
