There was a stretch of time until recently where this series was tilted in Toledo's favor. But not anymore. Ohio has won the last two and in the last meeting in 2017, a very good Toledo team (8-1 overall, 5-0 in the MAC) walked into Peden Stadium and was shredded 38-10 by Ohio in a game that was never competitive. That same Toledo team would go on to win the MAC Championship (11-2, 7-1). This year's version of Toledo will limp into Peden Stadium at 5-5 overall, 3-3 in the MAC. They are off a feel-good win over lowly rival BG who barely put up a fight. Ohio is playing as good as anyone the past few weeks and has shown for 6 years it can beat or battle anyone in the MAC. Ohio will stay right in the MAC Championship race and win its 3rd in a row vs Toledo for the first time since 1968. That’s right, since 1968, the last time Ohio won the MAC. It’s all still there in front of this team…

This Toledo team is a complete enigma to me. This is the same team that was leading Notre Dame with less than two minutes to go, but then lost to cellar-dwelling Colorado State at home in the Glass Bowl 22-6. Then they beat the team I think is the MAC's best -- WMU -- 35-15 at home, before lossing a shootout to EMU 52-49. I hope the team that played EMU and CSU shows up next week!

Kent would win this scenario with a 4-1 MAC East record while Miami and Ohio would be 3-2. We need both significant upsets (BG over Miami and Akron over Kent) to happen. We have a good chance to beat BG the last week. Toledo is tougher for us. I we can survive next week still alive OUr chances would not be all that bad. I mean, we'd still be a obvious underdog for the East going into the last week but it would be all that crazy to hope for both games the final week to happen. The trouble is getting all three games we need next week to all simultaneously happen.

This is dated 2007, but I don't think it has changed. No. 1 tiebreaker is head to head, which obviously would be 1-1 for all teams involved.

Second tiebreaker is record against teams in division highest to lowest, so it would depend on who was fourth. If the fourth-place team is Buffalo as is the case now, only Ohio lost to Buffalo, so Ohio would be eliminated and then it would be based on head to head between the two remaining teams (Miami and Kent play the last game).

I suppose it's still possible for Akron or BG to wind up fourth. Akron and Kent play each other in next week's games, as do Miami and BG. Obviously, Ohio needs an upset in one of those games for this scenario to play out. Ohio would need a situation where it is tied with only Miami at 5-3, or in the case of a three-way tie that Kent is the first team eliminated, which could happen if Kent loses to Akron but beats Miami (after Miami beat BG).

Toledo and WMU have to be the biggest disappointments in the West this season. They were picked 2 and 3 in the preseason poll but have been floundering in the cellar of the West most of the last month. Both have struggled with inconsistency all season. BSU is a close third. They were picked to win it this year but that's only because they were a surprise winner last year. They were pretty miserable the four or five previous years.

Toledo has been its own worst enemy in MAC play. They're averaging 78 yds in penalties -- the equivalent of a TD per game. Worst in the MAC.

Their offense has really picked it up the last three games, averaging 44 ppg. In their first three MAC games they averaged just 22 ppg. Our defense, especially the pass defense (we're giving up 305 ypg in the MAC), will really have to step up.

We have a pass defense? ;-)

Seriously, we seem to do OK early in games, but when we get a lead we seem to play soft and the other team gets easy seven and eight yard passes and can march down the field in short order. I think that this strategy has turned a few potential wins into losses.

Hi all,

Toledo alum here. My girlfriend and I will be traveling over to OU for the first time. Couple questions: Is there a visitor section or where are the best sections to view the game? Are there any pregame festivities worth checking out?

Thanks in advance for your help. Let’s hope for a good game…and a UT victory, of course. 😉

I think that if you go through the Toledo athletics site you will end up in section 110 to 112. Obviously, I have never attempted that but since there are always a large number of visiting fans there it must be where the allocation is. However, you know how Tuesday night MACtion is. There will be tickets available through OU's site or at the gate.

ESPN+???

The whole reason we play on cold, crappy Tuesday nights is because of being televised. WTH, we can play in the actual daylight on a Saturday and be streamed. BS.

Yes, but does your streaming service have the money to replace what ESPN gives the MAC for MACtion? There is the rub.

All season ESPN showed it as being on ESPN2 then flipped it this week in favor of WMU-EMU. The first listing could've been a mistake, but to put BG-MOFO on ESPNU instead of our game doesn't make much sense either.

Essentially the same role Ohio was in vs Miami and Eastern Michigan - and we all know how that turned out. Ohio won both games outright.

...and the same situation we were in against CMU, Buffalo, and Kent and lost. We were also a 2 point favorite vs Syracuse and lost, 29 vs. Duquesne and lost, a 19 point underdog vs. Louisiana and lost, and 13 point underdogs against Northwestern and lost.

Nobody says that a 7 point line means that we will surely lose by exactly 7 or even that we'll lose. It just means that the consensus of the people most in the know and are willing to put their money where their mouth is put that as the average of all possible outcomes. But there are countless possible outcomes. History says that 7 point underdogs win almost exactly one quarter of the time. That's probably about what we should expect here. I can't say that I know substantially more than the experts. If I did I'd probably become a betting man and get rich. I don't see any reason to think you are smarter than the experts either. One, I don't think you have gotten rich and, two, even though you thankfully got the last two right your overall track record on this site isn't, to my recollection, particularly great. We are 3-7. How many of those 7 losses did you get right?

BTW, I'm not trying to be negative here. I might argue Ohio was just as good as anybody in the MAC in 2017, 2018, and 2019 even though they failed to win the East. I think OUr men's and women's basketball teams both have as good of a chance as anyone to win the MAC. I'm just being rational and reasonable. We do have a decent chance to beat Toledo but by the same token we'll be favored to beat Bowling Green and they will have the same reasonable chance to beat us.

Well, I never have to use General Parking so I hope this map is still correct.

GP is General Parking. I believe that it is 5 dollars.

I haven’t watched the Rockets since Notre Dame. They were an infuriating watch for someone rooting for Notre Dame to fall flat on their face, with all their self-inflicted damage. Penalties galore, bad clock management. Hopefully we can take advantage and keep this recent success going.

East division? The chips will fall where they will. Just get a win and keep the steak going. Plus, 3 straight versus Toledo would be good.

This is the place to be if you're looking for uniform complaints. However, I would say there are probably more uninform complaints on BA than uniform ones.
