Triple duty on Tuesday. Football @ EMU, men's hoops vs. Belmont, women's hoops @ Notre Dame.

Which one to watch?

This is probably the toughest MAC game on paper. Oddsmakers might consider Toledo to be about as good as EMU even though they are below .500, However, this one is on the road so we could see a double digit spread here even though we improved our standing with an upset win on Tuesday.

Don't know if it means much, but the visiting team has won the last three meetings -- Ohio at Ypsilanti in 2013 and 2017 and EMU at Peden in 2016.

EMU is second in the MAC in Passing yards per game (268) and we just gave up nearly 500 passing yards to Miami...hopefully we can get it together on the road. It's a tough ask but I'm hoping for the best.

Once again, Ohio also owns this series having won 10 of the last 12 meetings, including the last 4 in Ypsilanti, and hasn't lost there in 22 years (not since 1999). Some things never change. I expect another Ohio win!

Ohio could be playing the '72 Miami Dolphins and you'd expect a win. Some things never change, indeed.

In his defense the 72 Dolphins at their age are ripe for the picking.

Minimum age of those guys has got to be 72, and they haven’t practiced as a unit in more than 40 years!!

I'm not really sure how this matters much. EMU was consistently one of the worst teams in FBS. They haven't been recently. We were an above .500 team every season for about 15 years but this year we are one of the worst teams in the FBS. Of course, we are going to have a good record over recent history. But Frank Solich, Nathan Roark, AJ Ouellette, Blair Brown, Terrell Basham, and Casey Sayles are not coming out of the tunnel. Of course, we have a shot to win, Of course, all of us hope we will. Of course, we will be a substantial underdog and thus probably won't.

Did you use this logic to contend that we had almost no chance in beating CMU? No, you didn't. Somehow, the outcome of games with different players and coaches didn't matter to you then. Why suddenly does it matter now?

This isn't the same EMU or Ohio.

Interesting matchup from a stat view:

In MAC games, Ohio is 3rd in rushing offense (221 ypg) and EMU is 8th in rushing defense (181 ypg), so Ohio should be able to play to its offensive strength. Rogers should see quite a bit of action.

EMU is dead last in rushing offense (79 ypg) while Ohio is 4th in rushing defense (147 ypg), so Ohio should be able to stop EMU's running game.

On the other hand, EMU leads the MAC in passing offense (313 ypg) and Ohio is 11th in passing defense (295 ypg), so EMU can play to its offensive strength.

Ohio is dead last in passing offense (187 ypg) while EMU is a mediocre 6th in passing defense (256 ypg); given Ohio's recent uptick in passing, how well Ohio passes could be key to the game.

In the all-important scoring stat, EMU is 3rd in scoring (34.2) while Ohio is 4th in scoring defense (28.2); Ohio is 7th in scoring (29.8) and EMU is 6th in scoring defense (30.0). Could be a close one.

I lived in Ann Arbor for several years after graduation and would attend the EMU/Ohio football and basketball games, 81-84. The football game one year had only 100 people in attendance! I counted them.

We are a 7.5 point underdog. That's about the same as last week at home against Miami. It looks like we are getting a good amount of credit for winning last week.

The EMU game in 2013 had at maximum 7 people in the stands at kickoff and I doubt they stayed longer than 10 minutes. It was pouring rain and freezing. I was sick as a dog for a week and a half afterwards. Despite a dominating win, Saturday October 19, 2013 made me really question, “Is this sh!t worth it?”

EMU is the only West team to beat MOFO this season. They won 13-12, held the MOFOs to four FGs, no TDs. And did it with only 257 total yds. and a QB who was sacked six times.

How many over that number do you expect to see tomorrow night?

My guess, announced attendance over 14,000. Real live humans in the stadium less than 1500. On the other hand, it will be abnormally warm, so maybe I'm underestimating the number.

The spread has changed to 5.5 to 6.0 depending on which odds maker you want to look at.
Lets get this into the W column.

Ohio can't be stopped and EMU can't get going! Ohio had 4 drives in the half and all of them resulted in a score. EMU has looked puzzled on how to try and navigate vs the Ohio defense. Bobcats have totally outplayed them. Just as I said they would.
