Hey, thought some of the diehards would like part of the Justin Fields feature I wrote because I talked to Dontrell Jackson and his namesake son.

Dontrell gave up his head coaching gig at his alma mater a couple of years ago and has been coaching on the staff for his son's Catholic school team. Dontrell Jr. is going to Coastal Carolina to play QB. (They said OU was recruiting him before they settled on Callum Wither.) Dontrell Jr. has a really nice arm, btw. As Dontrell Sr. said, "He's way better than me."

I was looking at his stats and he only played 7 games as a senior. Did he get hurt?

We returned 10 offensive starters from a productive offense the prior year. Grobe went to Wake Forest and took most of the assistants with him. Many of the schools in the MAC were already running a spread read option and very few in the rest of the country were. Greg Gregory, the OC, converted Ohio to a new system. We went from a 3 running back set to 1. A lot of the backs were converted to receiver. Then he tried QBs who were better passers and played Jackson some at WR. What should have been a great offense turned into an unbelievable cluster@#$!.

I remember our defense being the key issue. Knorr's first game was against Akron and they simply could not stop us. But we couldn't stop them either and they had the ball last.

Was that the game with the infamous roughing the snapper penalty that allowed, I think, UA a do over on a missed FG at the end of the game.

Roughing the snapper game was vs. Akron at Peden with Grobe still at the helm.

Knorr's first game as HC was the season opener at Akron's Rubber Bowl.

No, that was the season before. That was Grobe’s final year and cost the Cats the East title. However, we also started out down 20-0 at half so had no one but purselves to blame.

Knorr’s first year that Akron game was moved for TV and the staff was not happy. That was a Tom Boeh gift

OK, thanks for the clarification, everybody. I asked because I wasn't sure as my memory was fuzzy about what season that roughing the snapper penalty occurred. Seems Akron games have been had strange twists more than once.
