Although the faux safety call had zero impact on the outcome. We lost by 3 touchdowns (maybe more).
My memory could be off, but we weren’t losing by 3 touchdowns when f’Ing McCabe hosed us with that call. Not unreasonable at all for the fight to go completely out of a team when the official is just going to start blatantly awarding points to one team, when it looks like the fix is in, etc. i was at that game, and i remember shouting quite loudly* that if that was how the refs were going to call the game, we should have stopped play right then and walked out.
(*To be clear, i was sitting in the last row of the top deck, no one of any consequence could hear me, and they wouldn’t have had any reason to listen to a random guy in any case)
I remember Buffalo's Coach comment on the officiating something along the lines of kick them while they are down and what not. Buffalo's Coach might have just been feeling sorry for us.
In case anyone wanted to know my location, well I really don't remember, but I would speculate that my location was somewhere in the United States.
Not related to the officials (Don't think), but this will probably be the last thing going through my mind on my deathbed before my soul descends down to Hell.
------Northern Illinois tied the record for their largest comeback in the school's history, coming back from down 20-0 to win 23-20 on the game's final play to win their second MAC championship of all time.------
