Fantastic accomplishments by these young men and the teams they play on. "Career records" are becoming more and more situational with expanded seasons. Even in the MAC, the top two teams are guaranteed 14 games.

Jim Brown's records are a case in point. 118 games, 106 rushing touchdowns, 5.2 yards per carry and an average of 104 yards per game.

Compare that to Emmitt Smith, the all time yards rushing leader and he played 226 games, 164 rushing touchdowns, 4.2 yards per carry and an average of 81 yards per game.

I actually think the 'career records' will have even more meaning now if they're surpassed by anyone at OHIO. For a player to put up career highs, they likely are staying at OHIO for the duration of their career. If a player is putting up all-time high numbers and choosing to stay at OHIO, that's incredibly impressive. Players of bygone eras were pretty much locked in to staying at one university for their entire playing career. Now, with movement so open, student-athletes have choice and are getting recruited elsewhere.

The Jim Brown/Emmitt Smith comparison is also one that doesn't seem to hold a lot of weight. Jim Brown chose to only play 9 seasons of his own doing. Emmitt played 15. Those were choices they made. Nobody made Brown retire.

I agree with Alan here, and have said that thing many times on this board, in this day of longer seasons (both college and pro) per-game averages make a lot more sense when comparing player's achievements than talking about season or career totals. It is, as Alan says, a more apples to apples comparison.

I don't totally disagree with this, but especially when considering the brutal physicality of the running back position, longevity is still a factor in greatness. If I were an nfl running back, i'd make my money and be gone in 5 years. no need to do that yourself.

Plus, I believe he was recognized at Senior day (even though he's listed as a RS Junior on the roster). I'll also be surprised if we hang on to Mason Williams. Kid's a stud TE ala Kacmarek, maybe with better hands.

Oh yeah, Mason is gone. Solid player. Great hands. We don't utilize the TE very much. Good luck at Cincinnati or something.

Chase leaving would be a huge risk regardless, but a bigger risk than playing without Parker? We've got bigger fish to fry at the moment, but I hope (and I doubt) Tim/Hype are getting some reps with the 1's here and there trying to establish some sort of report cause I think that will be the key to keeping him. Faith in a young QB.

I think Ohio State could dangle some quick cash, potential to replace Tate, and line-up next to a Top 5 pick. That may never come to fruition, but the idea of doing it...? Hell, I'm excited for him. (sad)

When Chase made that play in Columbus, a few of us in our section just started laughing and agreed that was not gonna bode well for us at the end of the year.

I don't understand why we don't get Mason 8-9 targets a game. He couldn't be stopped against BG and then we just stopped going to him. He should by far and away be our #2 option.

If we say Hendricks has a 70% chance of playing elsewhere that is fair. Projecting the exact terms and location of that new school we have a 0% chance of that. Predicting a salary for Brian Smith to be hired away at from Ohio would be an easier task.

I am expecting to lose Hendricks, and possibly Mason Williams, and DJ Walker to the P4. Maybe some others. You know that more will also transfer for other reasons.

Carnell Tate is pulling in around $1.5M (from 11 Warriors, likely some random projections)

If you're looking for his replacement, paying $300-$400K for a proven commodity, 60 miles down the road, even if OSU has a lot of studs in the building, isn't a far leap for them. Especially if you have a young QB, who of course is good, but bringing in a steady senior to elevate your championship aspirations?

I've said it many times before, but we're offering playing time, other schools are offering straight cash homey. $300K to them on a $20M roster is a rounding error.

He's gonna have a lot of suitors, many teams could throw out $100K just to get him on the roster, no PT guarantees, where even that feels like a tremendous stretch for us.

He's spent much of his career with Brian somewhere in the building, but it comes down to this; Rebuild here with a new QB, or go make six figures with a new QB. Doesn't sound real good for us when you put it that way.

If you're looking for his replacement, paying $300-$400K for a proven commodity, 60 miles down the road, even if OSU has a lot of studs in the building, isn't a far leap for them. Especially if you have a young QB, who of course is good, but bringing in a steady senior to elevate your championship aspirations?

I've said it many times before, but we're offering playing time, other schools are offering straight cash homey. $300K to them on a $20M roster is a rounding error.

He's gonna have a lot of suitors, many teams could throw out $100K just to get him on the roster, no PT guarantees, where even that feels like a tremendous stretch for us.

He's spent much of his career with Brian somewhere in the building, but it comes down to this; Rebuild here with a new QB, or go make six figures with a new QB. Doesn't sound real good for us when you put it that way.
You're agreeing with me because you are are saying Hendricks could be worth anywhere from 1.5 million to 100k on the open market. With the P4 its a $20M revenue share + 3rd party NIL. Texas Tech spent $55M and bought themselves a team. In the G5, UNLV I believe is the ony one at the full $20M this year and it bought them a high level G5 team.

The question then I would have is how much do P4 programs spend on retaining their rosters, the guys they want not the washouts? Are freshman getting revenue share or are they expected to walk in with 3rd party NIL deals? This all appears to be a very inexact science at this point in time.

Based on this article a quoting a SEC GM it sounds like the going rate is 700k to 800k for a #1 receiver at a SEC school. This should be realistic for an all-MAC type receiver.

UMASS should be a nice day to break some records.

-Chase needs 143 yards to go over 1,000 for only the 4th time in OU history.


-Sieh needs 73 yards to crack 1,000. 1,100 would move him into 10th place all-time single season.

With 91 yards he will have over 3,000 career yards, Top 5 all-time.


-Parker already 10th all-time in career rushing TD, 9th in career passing TD - more will just move him up the list.

That'd be pretty sweet to be top 10 in both rushing and passing TDs.
