Bring back Cable/Satellite. They duped us away from a reliable infrastructure and just heaped on to our web based world.
They made their own bed with their price hikes and lousy service. They have no one to blame but themselves. Directv was one of the best companies out there. Then at&t bought them and ruined them. Literally turned them into dicks. then at&t bailed but the damage was done.
The final straw with me for cable was a few years ago when Spectrum moved CBS Sports from their regular sports package to another package that would have required me to subscribe for about $30 additional a month to another package with about 25 additional channnels I had no interest in just to retain CBSSN. As you said, they made their bed and now they have to lay in it.
I hate this. My response is to go out to a bar for games on CBS Sports instead of pay for the monthly subscription.
And after a drink or two you've paid more than a monthly subscription.

It doesn't seem that having the ESPN Ultimate package will do any good because they apparently still require a TV provider to get the ESPN cable channels, so I signed up for a Sling TV day pass. Just $5 and they dont automatically renew. Cheaper than upgrading to ESPN Ultimate anyway. And if the babies still aren't getting along next week I'll just another day pass.

Installing the Sling app is a little tricky, though. They send a link to your cell phone but it's the same webpage you have to use to create an account and they ask for payment information all over again. You have to sign out, then sign back in on all devices you used to set up the account.

I went through a similar experience, Pataskala. I figured you cannot use the original email you use for the provider and your previous ESPN account. I created a new email and selected the new account path. I also selected the ESPN Ultimate package FYI.

Apparently my Disney / Hulu / ESPN package doesn’t include sports now?!

I log in and it says I need to pay $299.99 a year for UNLIMITED.

That's patently absurd! I have Hulu, pay $99.72 a month and get every sports channel you could think of including EPSN, EPSN2, EPSNU, ESPNNews, ESPN+, CBSSN, lots of conference-based networks, etc. Must be an early April Fools joke!

Is that the Hulu live sports package? I don't have that. I just have the Disney Plus bundle that packaged Hulu / Disney / ESPN, but Hulu is so slow it's unwatchable, and Disney is just as bad half the time. Only thing that ever worked was ESPN. And now I don't even have that.

Upon re-reading your post, I think what they are asking is for an annual bill rather than monthly for the sports ad-on, which seems reasonable to me. I just checked into my account and they are saying I can save 16% by going to annual billing. I also noticed that as of next month they are raising my monthly bill to $107.23 a month (this includes $9.99 a month for the unlimited screen option, as I have a lot of devices). My plan is: Hulu Basic + Live TV, Disney+, and ESPN Select.

Yeah I found this out the hard way last night. Apparently the basic bundle for those three only gives you ESPN+ access. AND they're raising the price of just that little bundle. I hate it here.

We'll probably see more of this as Disney tries to pull customers away from the other streaming services and onto their own. Look for an anti-trust case, either from DOJ but more likely from competitors.

YTTV said last week that if the blackout lasts more than a month customers will get a $20 refund. At least we know about how much we're paying for Disney=owned channels each month.

How do you like Hulu + Live ?

I'm considering the switch, but YouTubeTV is so easy to navigate, and the DVR is unlimited so it's basically just become my secondary netflix.

Technically, Hulu is more expensive than YouTubeTV, but not if I have to purchase ESPN on top of it now.

I like it alot. I can watch virtually any sports contest I want. Until recently, they did not include CW Network, but they just added that. The only times I get left out is when a game is on something like Peacock. I went directly from Spectrum Cable to Hulu, so I don't have any other streaming services to compare it with. But, the fact that my package includes ESPN+ means I don't have to subscribe to that separately like I did when I had Spectrum Cable.

YouTube TV is extending $20 to subscribers but there's a process to claiming it. Look it up. That'll be nice to use for a few 24 hour Sling passes with the upcoming football games.

For anyone who needs instructions on how to claim this credit.

Doing this on a laptop/desktop, but it should be similar on a phone or tablet.

-Login to YouTube TV and go to Settings
-Go to Updates
-There is a button for you to claim your credit
-You should get a screen that says you've successfully claimed your credit and it will be applied to the next bill.

I jut re-upped my day pas with Sling TV but there might be a problem if the Clemson-SoCar game before it goes into OT. I'm not sure what sport it is (WBB maybe) or if it's live or recorded (I think it's live). If it goes into OT, our game might start on ESPNews, which Sling doesn't carry. I don't think changing TV providers on my ESPN app will help because Sling doesn't carry the channel. Might have to start with radio coverage.
