[QUOTE=M.D.W.S.T] Looking through the portal commits from 2024, we might be able to fill some potential gaps with these guys who didn't play much and have years remaining.

S Jaylen Johnson - Transfer from Memphis. 6'2' 221. Great size. Just 3 tackles. Would be great if he could step in for Brawley if he does indeed go elsewhere. (Tried to last season as well)

DE Reise Collier - Transfer from USF. Not on the roster. Twitter says hes in the portal in Feb? Played at Coffeyville before USF.

DE Sinn Brennan - Transfer from SDSU. Freshman. 6"4 235. No stats this season.

DB Michael Mack - Transfer from Wisconsin. Junior. Played a little bit, behind a pretty veteran group. Expect he'll take a pretty big jump forward if he remains.

WR Iian Pugh - Transfer from Illinois. Freshman. Pretty obvious one. We'll need him to help fill the spot left by Owen.

WR Max Rodarte - Transfer from Juco. Jr. Likely will have a lot of years if he wants to use them. Led the California league in yards and td.

*edit*

Add in Tony Mathis as well, not a transfer, but was one of our highest recruits ever at Safety.
Mack and Rodarte should fill positions of need.

Rodarte is Owen 2.0

We lose some DL people so Brennan could be a pleasant surprise.

Got the alert. Let out a big sigh. Hopefully Michael Taylor stays committed or we go portal hunting for another P4 transfer.

Thanks for that run Ricky.

I keep watching that clip over and over. It helped us seal the victory. Loved your bowl game last year as well.

Taylor will stay and be part of a RB rotation. Could we find another Tre in the portal?

Stay tuned.

Rickey Hunt is a good running back but as we've seen, that's a spot where there's a lot of guys available just looking for an opportunity.

Hunt has shown flashes and I thought he could be a valuable piece moving forward but also believe we'll find someone that will step in and get the job done. There's going to be players similar to Tyus that will want to play alongside Parker Navarro on a team looking to win a MAC Championship.

Anybody familiar with a backup RB at Kentucky named Chip Traynum (sp?) that just went portal? Originally from the Canton-Akron area?

I remember him playing LB for OSU at one point. Think he had 100 yards vs Michigan a few years back.

Looking for his 4th school in 5 years.

Only got one year left, so we could certainly do worse than have him step right into Tyus' spot.

Bummer about Rickey, but I felt like that writing was on the wall. Just couldn't see the field. Brought in someone (clearly better) to compete and won the job soundly. Could've been your year next season, kid.

That one bowl game, might get him a solid P4 offer. Playing time is another thing.

Still got my fingers crossed about Sieh coming back. He liked my post about returning to OU. (lol I realize it means nothing, but it might not)

Loved the guy, hope he finds a home where he can get more carries. Seemed like a great team player to me.

While I didn't expect that Hunt would be here for his entire career, I think he would have been better off to be the starter here next year to increase his value in the '26 portal. Looking forward to seeing what Taylor and Brunne can do next year.

Was at OSU previously. Archbishop Hoban grad.

On Hunt, could be the staff told him they were/are seeking a stud like Tyus. Sieh, for instance

Like I said before, has Ohio ever signed 2 running backs before this year? Hunt gave up a lot of carries to others rather than Tyus this year as well. Handwriting on the wall ?

I’m sure it wasn’t fun to be recruited over like that. Ricky started the Syracuse game, Tyus went nuts and it was Tyus’ spot from that point. Ricky did whatever was asked of him from that point on and did it very well.

I have no ill will towards any of the kids leaving, especially after they all played in the bowl game. I think Rickey will do great at the right school.

However, I think Brune could make a big jump next year and I believe as a German he is not eligible for NIL money? Not ideal for him but could keep him here through all/most of his career.

Additionally, we’ve got a local to me kid named Michael Taylor posting positively to Parker announcing he is staying and Smith getting the coaching job coming in next year. Got to watch him play a couple games on the CW this year, he’s legit. I think he could at least match Rickey Hunt’s production next year given the chance. Heck, maybe he’ll even be the next AJ Ouellette and take control of the starting job by game 4.

Not necessarily true on the NIL and International students. There are ways an international student can earn NIL money and we’ve had experience with them.

Traynum to Toledo. Huge news.

We better get it together. Miami and Toledo already have big time portal commits.

Only way to stop the bleeding is to offer and obtain some portal help.

We’d better get busy.

Finney left for Charlotte and he was instrumental in getting portal names and offers out there.

Crossing my fingers that we have somebody getting busy on that.

I feel like we may see a lot of portal submission, but more removals this go-round.

I would put my name in as well just to see what bites. Especially if you’re older or have a lot of years left to work your way up the depth chart.

I’m not sweating losing a guy who had 8 tackles, but I too am curious where he may land. Like I always say, they can give you a scholarship… playing time is a whole different story. We only saw a couple guys with significant playing time after jumping in the portal - who were major contributors for us - and several are back in again. Was running out of the tunnel with a mediocre Big10 worth it to lose a year? I don’t know. I’m guessing the answer is no. But for someone like Foster? Worth it. Happy he got to get that experience.

I was wondering why Bradley Weaver hasn’t entered yet and when I re-read his staying home post on instagram, he said staying for a couple more years. I know the situation has changed but if he holds his word, this would be huge. Also, with how the NCAA is handing out extra years for Juco players. Does that mean Tank gets another year or two?

CB Tank should get another year and maybe DT Cam Rice.

2 excellent players.
