If he goes to UC, it'll be interesting to see his father work on defending him in the fall. I suspect he knows all of Joey's tendencies! ;-)

It is good to know that Athens High School is still turning out smart kids. Urban Meyer had his chance. Meyer is still lusting after the next big thing. Burrow deserved the nod this coming year. As someone who hates the Evil Empire north of us, I am absolutely delighted to hear about this. I am also happy for the kid, who looks like he is going to get a shot to play for all the marbles somewhere big.

Farewell to "Mr. Relevant". I for one am shocked that he hasn't announced his transfer to Ohio. Must be some sort of mistake.

Well, I guess this topic is marginally more relevant since media outlets are reporting us as a potential landing spot. I still think it's Nebraska, though, with UC as second choice. Mullen's system really needs a big-bodied physical QB for the running aspects, and Burrow is a little lean for that.

One of my friend's sons just graduated from Florida.
Talked to him yesterday.
From talking to him, there doesn't seem to bu much,if any buzz about Burrow.

Guess that means we can expect an announcement of him going there anytime. :-)

ESPN: "Burrow graduated Sunday with a degree in family resource management."

I Googled it.
Basically you learn about household budgets, setting financial goals, avoiding financial problems.

And I thought that degrees in "Sports and Recreation Management" and "Coaching Science" were less then academically rigorous.

So just to be clear, we have consensus that there is no chance of him coming to play with his Dad at Ohio?

Three years plus three years of summer classes generally equals four years of classes.

He's going to be a grad transfer.

Be interesting to see what Masters program he goes into.

I stand by my dismissive, flippant, unresearched comment regarding a B.S. (or B.A.?) in family resource management

Should have done some research:

Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology, Consumer and Family Financial Services
A bachelor's degree specializing in Consumer and Family Financial Services will give you the skills needed for a rewarding career helping people understand and manage their personal resources, including time and money. This program prepares you for a variety of careers in the consumer and family financial service industry. And, it is the only program at Ohio State that incorporates the coursework needed to get you ready for the Certified Financial Planner examination.

First off,you can take the CFP exam without a degree.
You can get a degree up to 5 years after that.
Also, they app-ear to accept any degree.

I wonder how many graduates of this program went on to be CFP's ?

Sorry, but this seems like just another curriculum that incorporates the course coursework need to keep athletes eligible.

That was my first thought, also. Now, if it lead to a CPA, I might be impressed. Without naming names I had a situation recently where a CFP gave me wrong advice on a tax matter that a CPA had to correct.

CFPs are salespeople. I know many that are good people, but I always take any "advice" from them with several tablespoons of NaCl.

(I was a finance major, so I love playing dumb with CFPs just to see what crap product they might be pushing.)

Yeah, with his degree he is likely to end up being a teacher or selling yearbooks for a living.

To me it sounds like a new name for a degree that's been around a long time. Didn't this used to be called Home Economics?

I would guess this goes both ways.

Seriously.? “A little lean”? Have you ever stood next to the kid? What are you looking for? Jared Lorenzen?

Kid had a 30 ACT and you clowns want to bash his academic degree. Sad, just sad.

If he had a 30 ACT and chose to major in Home Ec, it's even worse. I get it for the stud athletes that OSU brings in who would have no chance of admission otherwise and little chance of keeping their heads above water in a serious major. For a kid who's coming in with stats equal to (or even slightly above) the regular students, it's idiotic to waste a 100K education majoring in Home Ec.

Clueless!!! At that level, it’s who you know and not what you know. We have players with General Studies degrees that make mid to low 6 figures who got jobs based on the fact they played at OHIO and can carry themselves very well.

Joe Burrow: 6-3, 215
http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/osu-...

Notable Dan Mullen-Coached QBs:
Tim Tebow: 6-3, 240
Cam Newton: 6-6, 240
Dak Prescot: 6-2, 230
Chris Relf: 6-4, 245
Nick Fitzgerald: 6-4, 230
Josh Harris: 6-3, 238
Alex Smith: 6-4, 212

So, other than Alex Smith a decade and a half ago, and who started at Utah pre-Meyer/Mullen....yes, Burrow is "a little lean" for Mullen's offense.

I wouldn't really lump Cam Newton into that equation since he really never did anything significant for Mullen, but it's a good point. The only QB who was smaller than these guys was Chris Leak, who was maybe 6'0" and 210. But even then, Tebow came in for running downs.
