When will it be ready?

Anyone have any stats/thoughts about  what % of our injuries occurred in Peden or at other venues?

I heard they were starting to take out the old field yesterday.. Can anyone confirm if this has started yet?

I also heard the design has been kept a secret and will have some interesting character?
I'm anxious to see the final product.

Interesting character, as in Robin Williams interesting or interesting characteristics, as in white end zones?  Maybe a 50 yard line picture of Mork would be better.  It'd be unusual, for sure.

They are going to put Na-Nu Na-Nu at the 25 yard line for extra eye appeal.

Along those lines, does anyone know where IPF construction stands?  Have any decisions been made?  Will it be built in time for the 2014 season?  I would have thought shovel would have met ground by now but I guess not.

Gotta be someone with Ohio ties.  Maybe Skip Wilhelm, the weenie man.

Wonder about the practice fields and I if they are hardest in MAC too.

Is it just me, or do they constantly "kick the can down the road" with this thing? We've been waiting and waiting...but I'll believe it when I see it. Hope construction can be done by December, but I think that's a dream.

Heard from fairly reliable source that we should expect to see the  same logo as the Convo has at center court...

Was that not already the case?

Current is just the bobcat head.  The new logo will be OHIO with Bobcat head.   Did someone already mention this?  Sorry if I'm talking old news..

Always thought it was weird to just have the Bobcat head. We are OHIO...that should be shouted from the rooftops. The cat head made it look a bit high-schoolish, IMO.

we had OHIO spelled out in 25 ft letters across each end zone so it wasn't crucial to have it at center field too. I think one day, maybe 30-40 years now the Attack Cat will be such a recognizable image that it won't be necessary to spell out Ohio behind it, but until then I agree it looks better with it.  I wonder if they'll change the end zones.

Company selected to install new field at Peden is slated to start next week with vacuuming up the old infill. Architect had people here last week doing flush testing to see how well the existng base drains. There will be an arched OHIO logo fronted by the Attack Cat at midfield and dark green endzones with the large OHIO in each. Also the white boundary line that encompasses the field will have a dark green highlight outside of it.

Once the trustees approve the MPF expect construction to start there shortly after. Facility could be ready to use for December bowl practice at the earliest. Isn't it great that we have become accustomed to having things such as bowl practice and Pro Day? This past December snow had to be removed for the last 2 bowl practices and Pro Day was held a couple of weeks ago in 40 degree weather and a 25 mile per hour wind.

I read that the NCAA requires the center field logo to not go over the hash marks. The current Attack Cat w/o OHIO logo is already that large so that means the new logo will have a smaller Cat to fit the lettering behind it.

I'm a little concerned now about how that is going to look, I hope it doesn't look too small or busy.

Not to rub salt in an old wound but if that field still doesn't drain after being replaced twice to solve a drainage problem, somebody really should be fired.

The field has had no drainage issues since the switch from natural grass to field turf almost 12 years ago. The flush test is a normal practice everytime you replace the artificial surface. Once the old turf is gone they will also check the base level and adjust the grade as needed.

Given the injury situation, can anything be done about the "hardest field in the MAC" or was that all BS?

glad our drainage problems aren't as bad as they used to be.
