Nebraska football - specifically the demise thereof - played a central role in last night's episode of Better Call Saul. This is a wonderful show and it would have been all the more sweet had the characters mentioned Frank Solich. Strangely, they discussed the merits of Tom Osborne, Bill Callahan and Bo Pelini, skipping over Frank. Now I'm off to Cinnabon, another central theme of the episode.

When it comes to Nebraska football, I will always remember something a fan of that school told me back in 2003-4. "I'm not unreasonable. I don't expect Nebraska to win a National Championship every year, but they should at least play for one every 2-3 years." I answered that it was a fluke of time that Nebraska had been that good the prior 15 years, and that Nebraska would never again play for a National Championship in his lifetime, and he looked at me incredulously.

Sometimes the best thing to do is to just enjoy an entertaining game on a beautiful fall day.

When the G5 and P5 are split Ohio will probably play for a National Championship in my lifetime.

Sadly it'll take a good decade for us to get out of our current hole.

In the meantime, don't forget to enjoy some beautiful fall days. Life doesn't get much better than that.

***(CONTAINS A SPOILER)***

Some of the BCS die-hards were upset that there was no violence in that episode, unless you consider Jeff slipping and bumping his head in Macy's while stealing "violent." Nobody got capped in their melon.

I told them to go watch Reservoir Dogs if they needed a violence fix.
