He is a WR who transferred from OSU where he was a walk on and was with the 2’s in spring.

Wonder if the new landscape that is NCAA athletics will deter recruits from taking a walk on spot at a P5 program and take a scholly at a smaller school? I doubt it but seems to be the smarter move from a fan's POV.

Are there currently any ties to the football program, or has he simply transferred to OU?

Edit - I see there are. https://twitter.com/samwiglusz/status/1524508292810170368...

I just tweeted welcoming him to the "real OHIO."

He's a grad transfer with 3 catches in four years.

I wouldn't chisel his name onto the depth chart quite yet.

Yeah I'm sure having a roster full of NFL talent had nothing to do with it either. Really gave him quite the shot he needed to show how good he could really be.

Relax, Sam. It's nothing personal.

From BuckNuts: "Wiglusz picked Ohio State over scholarship offers from Dayton, Malone, Notre Dame College of Ohio, and Wofford."

Same thing with Joe Burrow and he did okay at LSU. Not that I'd expect him to win the Heisman but we all know that some schools hoard talent that just fills up the sideline on game day.

He was on the OSU second team WR group.

Not exactly like he was the football team manager.

Garrett Wilson says Ohio State walk-on wide receiver Sam Wiglusz is good enough that he could have started at most other schools in the country.

"MOST OTHER SCHOOLS IN THE COUNTRY"

That's not exactly a light reference folks lol he's HIGHLY PRAISING A WALK IN WR WITH 3 CATCHES IN HIS CAREER.

I expect high level production period.

Well, some schools have boosters who are providing the walk-on's with NIL's that are essentially scholarships.

The WR group is one of the most interesting heading into 2022 and need to bounce back in a big way from a lame 2021. While there was a lot of factors that blunted the passing game last year, WRs were more often than not a non-factor last year. Odom led the team with 400+ yards and he did what he could, Walton had a few games, and Cox moved between brilliance and gaffs for the time he was in there.

If Wiglusz was truly good enough lately to run with the 2's at OSU, he could be a star here. Out of him, transfer Pitre III, another older guy or two and some of the younger guys, someone has to step up in this group and be a stud catching the ball.

If the Bobcats are gonna be better in 2022, this group has to have a guy or two emerge. There is an opportunity here for any player that wants to step up and claim it.

I think they got a good group here and this is where we might really improve.
