Checking in at six-foot-four and 215 pounds, you may recognize JD Johnson from the Netflix series QB1 as the HS backup to Spencer Rattler.

Big kid. Big arm. Big talent.

What many don’t realize is that Johnson actually hails from Vancouver. His dad played for the BC Lions.

He has recently tweeted about Nathan Rourke, and has probably kept an eye on the BC Lions.

Coming out of high school, Johnson had offers from Arizona, Oregon, Oregon State, South Carolina, Texas A&M and ended up at Michigan - where DR's found he had a heart issue and he had to medically retire, but has recently entered the portal after Cleveland Clinic found a way to manage. Harbaugh actually honored his scholarship, and he was something of a "team manager" the last two years.

Would Albin be willing to kick the tires? JD is certainly aware of Rourke. He would be close to Cleveland Clinic, should he need treatment or therapy. Could use the Rourke angle to bring in another Canadian QB to run with Kurtis?

Top Canadian quarterback recruit J.D. Johnson unretires with medical clearance, enters transfer portal..

With young prospects like Nathan Rourke already in the CFL, the future of Canadian quarterbacking is brighter than it has ever been. That outlook only improved on Friday when another highly-touted prospect announced his return to the gridiron.

Former three-star Michigan recruit J.D. Johnson surprised many when he took to Twitter with plans to revive his football career. Once a promising prospect out of Pinnacle High School in Arizona, Johnson was forced to retire in 2020 before ever stepping foot in Ann Arbour after being diagnosed with a heart defect.

At the time, Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh honoured the quarterback’s scholarship and he has served in a non-playing role with the team since, but now he's looking for an opportunity

Ohio indeed has experience with Canadian signal callers. What you may not realize is that they also have experience with players with former heart issues. Travis Carrie, now with Indianapolis, had issues with his heart/lung in high school before having open heart surgery to correct it. He was able to resume playing in his Senior year of High School, and became a late addition to the Ohio recruiting class.

Could be another great story.

Would really like to see this kid get another shot after having the rug pulled.
