Good Morning All

Day One / Practice One the road to Detroit Starts Now. Talked to my son at 5am. Prayed with him that all the players, coaches and staff have safe and productive Fall Camp with no injuries and daily improvement. One day at a time. One brick at a time. Be where your feet are. FOCUS!! Keep the Main Thing the Main Thing. I am excited. They know they are being overlooked. With a great Summer of improvement and growth, the experience of 18 graduates on the roster, new Coordinators O/D, JUCO and Transfer players mixed with players who been on board, This team has what it takes to make it to Detroit. Today it begins. #BrickbyBrick #OUohyeah #RollBobbies #LezGo

Thanks for the report. Yes, let's hope that all goes well and injuries are few and minimal. If this is like last year we won't get much info from camp, either through the independent media or the not-so-independent Athletics Dept. Thanks to the pandemic, the economics of the newspaper industry and other factors, coverage of training camp unfortunately isn't what it used to be.

When Jason Arkley was working for the Messenger, he would attend practice just about every day and report on the drills they did, who looked good, who didn't, who was held out or saw limited action, etc. Really good stuff for a town the size of Athens. But the Mess let him go during the pandemic and at last report he was working for a company in Cleveland. He still gave periodic reports last year.

Jason was the best. Hard to believe he is gone and they way he was dismissed (according to his Twitter post a while ago).

D1 Football (for now) and no dedicated coverage. Clown show.

Usually I am very positive for the new season to start and our possibilities.
However, after last year, it's difficult to be as positive as I was last year.
If we are able to go 2-2 in the OOC schedule I will be more excited for the possibilities this year.
The team needs to demonstrate to the fan base they have improved.

It's exciting that there seems to be great optimism about the defensive line going into camp. There does seem to be greater quantity and quality of "game ready" players this season. Combine that with a healthy Keye Thompson and Jeremiah Wood joining Bryce Houston and our front seven problems, making good initial contact, PASS RUSH, and winning on third down might be remedied.

PASS RUSH PASS RUSH PASS RUSH!

According to The Post, masks are now required "in all indoor spaces" at O.U.

Does anyone know if that includes things like indoor practices in the IPF ?

It is surprising to me that there is so little interest that no one is covering fall practice with a daily column.

There isn't someone at the J school that would volunteer to watch football and report back a few times a week?

I remember Allie LaForce patrolling the sidelines of the Convo. Turned out okay for her.

Yeah, here we are, 30 hours after the first scrimmage -- 30 hours after coaches and players apparently are available for interviews -- and there's bupkis about it. Nada from the Post and the Mess, and only a canned Q&A interview with Kurtis on the Athletics website. The sound of crickets is annoying.

There seems to be little interest on the part of the University to play up this years team. Do they know something we all feel after last year?
Are ticket sales up, I don't think so.
So what's going on?

Yes. Confirmed via Ohio Football Twitter. First scrimmage must’ve been today. Only thing posted is a video about the after practice snack? Has anyone seen any write-ups or interviews? Seems like it’s only been the “cute” stuff throughout camp. Not a lot of content in the content coming from the athletic department. Makes is hard to follow the program from out of state….

Yep, a scrimmage today and not a peep.
On 1, just 1 Twitter conversation it seems the DL dominated the scrimmage, LBs played solid as did the whole Defense. Transfer WR is a man amongst boys, transfer LB crafty and finds the ball. Overall it sounds like OU is on track for a much better season. The defensive line can dominate and Nowinsky has the defense back on track. No interviews.

And no mention of any major injuries.

The original practice schedule had a scrimmage set for Thursday with players available to the media every Thursday. Maybe it's changed.

Maybe the Post is on hiatus. Nothing added to their website since August 5th.

The Mess has a story that was posted around 8:00 this morning but could've been written a month ago with pix taken Thursday after practice.
