If Albin can keep consistently winning, I would have no problem continuing the Solich coaching tree here in Ohio.

While I think Coach Albin has earned the right to an additional year (or two, likely), the NIU thread begs a separate question: Which should we measure more for a coach, the wins and losses or the excitement he brings to the program? If our attendance is dropping significantly, is that a reflection of the regime? What can be done to build excitement on campus and around town?

I have to admit that really just noticed exactly how troll like this poll was. When I first looked at it I saw options like "Wait and See", Fire him now", "Fire him at the end of the season". I voted "Wait and See" which would still be my response. I think, heaven forbid, if we lose out that he would still likely be shown the door by Julie Cromer. But I assumed that some of the last few options were akin to "Bring him back next year" and "Let him finish his contract". But they were really more options that wanted to replace him now. I wasn't even attentive enough to notice.

Doc, this poll is aging well! Anyone want to re-vote or edit their choice?
nope. i’m good with my vote. you?
I’m not sure why some would have a hissy fit over this poll?

Most said give him a chance and wait until the end of the season.

Who was happy with a losing season last year?

TA wasn’t and that’s why he brought in some new players and new coaches.
No hissy fit, just re-visiting past opinions that make for good reading.

When you distill the poll down to it's essence, there were only three distinct possible replies:

1. Fire him at the end of the season (Fire him after this year, keep him just for this year): 31 votes
2. Wait & See: 24 votes
3. Fire him immediately (Show him the Door, Fire him now, Promote an assistant): 11 votes

this poll today is reminding me of the scene in Hoosiers when Jimmy Chitwood walks in the council meeting, says he's playing ball and a woman in the crowd shouts "I say we vote again"

barring an absolute collapse where we lose every game the rest of the year, this poll is a moot point now. He's coming back.

Exactly, and 42 of 66 responded to fire the coach. Two have even Pm’d me with the unpopular opinion (at the moment) that we still need to fire our coach.

KSU has underperformed this year. I wonder if Kent fans are calling for the firing of Sean Lewis.

IMO, this team has a level of toughness and perseverance we didn't often see in Frank's teams. There were potentially backbreaking plays suffered against Fordham, WMU and NIU that we immediately answered with TDs. Same with Kent for that matter.

I will vote on 11/9. UB for first shot at controlling our own destiny. Fiami for obvious reasons.

Love that scene….but agree. Barring losing out, he’s demonstrated enough to warrant the discussion of returning

This poll's premise seems to be that Albin should be gone. What's ironic is that such a situation might happen but not for the reason this poll contemplates. If by some chance the team winds up 10-3 (or even 9-4) and wins the MACC, Albin and/or some of his staff could indeed be gone, but because some P5 team poaches him and/or the staff.

I'm not saying it will happen; I just find it funny that 4-6 weeks ago the poll assumed Albin should no longer be Ohio's coach and never even contemplated the team could improve. Beware of what you wish for, maybe he won't be the coach in 2023 but it might but not be for the reason the poll assumed.

No P5 team is hiring Tim Albin.

I think that its probably not happening after this season no matter what. Not after 3-9 last year. But we could still go 11-3 with a MAC championship, a bowl win, and a 9 game winning streak. That's a big, big if. But if we did he would put himself a lot of radars and who knows. But that's true of almost any coach. If any coach wins 7 in a row starting now it changes everything in anyone's national perception of him.

Note the "and/or some of his staff". How about Brian Smith?

I am actually OK with that. He is developing into a guy who can keep the program moving forward. Put me down as "all in with Tim".
