I do not understand how Temple has the recognition of being "co-champions" of the MAC East last season?  True that both teams had the same record, but didn't we witness a sound thrashing of Temple by OUr own Bobcats?

Perhaps someone more understanding of this situation can explain?

No doubt on the day we played only one team felt like a champion heading into the locker room after the final gun.

More than likely they looked at the standings, saw the records, and before looking at the rules or CHAMPIONSHIP GAME NOTES, they said "hey these guys tied Ohio last year for the MAC East, but Ohio got to go because they beat 'em." Kinda like the Big Ten having a tie and sending one to the Rose Bowl because they beat the other team.

Not suprised by the Kent pick, they are holding the cards schedule wise getting both us and Temple at home. I think they win at least one of those games.

Funny thing about the Kent Series is that the home team is prone to loose!  Like it or not Temple tied for the MAC East, we went to the MACC on the tie breaker.  Toledo is a good safe pick on paper, we graduate a lot, but have a lot returning that only us die-hards know about.

And their "sleeper team" is ... Kent!

is it just me or has Kent been the sleeper team every year since 02?

All snarkiness aside, Doug Martin and his staff do a good job and this school has a tradition back to Don James, with several VERY notable Can't (OK...snarkiness MOSTLY aside) alumni having been celebrated among the NFL's best over the years.  Jack Lambert. James Harrison. Joshua Cribbs. And though he played basketball at Kent, Antonio Gates.  Golly, would it be great if we could spit a list like that who wore Green and White in college?!

Basically, it is not easy to win the MAC. Period. You can be good and not win the MAC.  Heck, if the prognosticators are correct, OUr team will be wearing that mantle this fall. Good ... but no trophy.

I think a "sleeper" is a "dark horse" -- one to keep an eye on.  You'll note that the prognosticators at CBSsports.com have the Flashes third in a predicted order of finish, behind Temple and Ohio.

The 'Cats are not a so-called sleeper or dark horse.  In the prognosticators' minds generally, we are a very good team with question marks that are more notable than the question marks that Temple and NIU are perceived to have.

The season reveals the answers to question marks.

And may the Flashes continue to sleep!

Now that's a prognostication I REALLY LIKE!  And perhaps a name or two yet discovered to go along with Michael and Taylor!
